“Excellent - worth the money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2009

We just finished our first visit to San Francisco in late June. We decided to do this walking tour based on the Trip Advisor reviews, and they were all spot-on. Linda Lee did a great job; the tour was one of the highlights of our visit. We were skeptical about whether the cost was worth it - couldn't we just wander Chinatown on our own? Yes, we could have, but then we would have missed all the fascinating cultural and history lessons that Linda shared. So much better than if we had just walked Grant Street and browsed a couple tourist shops.

If you have kids, the tour is esp. fun; Linda paid special attention to the two young girls on our tour and pointed out all the "Ewww, gross!" stuff in the grocery store and herbalist shop, to their delight.

We also did the lunch afterward, and it was great. If you've never done dim sum, it's a perfect introduction, since all the food is explained, and you can sample a wide variety.

“AllaboutChinatown.com Walking Tour is well worth the money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2009

Linda Lee tells of her own experience growing up in Chinatown and gives some history of the area as she walks you through the high points. The pace is leisurely with much time for us to ask questions. Linda is very personable. We were never steered into buying from any of the merchants. We added lunch with Linda at Kan's for $10 more. A good value.

“A Must Tour for First-Timers to SFO/Chinatown”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2009

We visited San Francisco for the first time last Fall (in early Oct '08), so we had no clue about the Chinese culture and everyday habits in this famous SFO neighborhood. But we sure do now after taking this tour. It was a beautiful warm day, and Linda Lee (the owner) gave us an excellent tour, followed at the end with a good Dim Sum lunch, to make our Chinatown experience complete. Don't miss this if you're a tourist that is new to Chinatown.

It seems that October is the month to go here, as the next three reviews are all from October as well -- one each from 2008, 2007 and 2006. And rather than repeat everything they have written, I would simply suggest that you READ THE THREE REVIEWS THAT FOLLOW BELOW -- they are absolutely right. I agree with every word of them.

“Best tour of Chinatown!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2008

My husband and I recently spent a long weekend in San Francisco. Having been there a number of times, we normally just wander around in different areas. This time, we actually signed up for a couple of tours, one being "All About Chinatown Walking Tours". We booked a tour on Sunday morning and were extremely fortunate to have the best weather - a gorgeous, warm day. The absolute icing on the cake was our tour guide - Linda Lee, who is the owner of the tour company. She grew up in Chinatown and her insights on the history and the people of the area were fascinating. We went through various areas of Chinatown including both produce and meat markets on Stockton street - very different and very interesting. Our tour included a dim sum lunch (tours can be with our without lunch) which was very, very good. If you are looking for a tour of Chinatown, this is the one to take.

“Best chinatown tour ever!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2007

We took this tour last week (Oct 10 2007) and we were very happy that we did. Tour guide and owner Linda Lee, was very knowledgeable, friendly and knew the answers to all of our questions. The tour takes about 2 hours and covers most of the high points of chinatown. Linda took us to a fortune cookie factory where you could buy ($3.00 ) a big bag of hot un- folded cookies, yum yum. We also went to a local chinese food market and seafood store and a chinese pharmacy. It was just great. Plus we had a great dim sum lunch with Linda.
This tour is not to be missed.
