“Fun Night out”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2014

Want to have a fun night out. This place is it. We came for dinner. The food is really good. The sea food we both ordered was really fresh and well made. The thunder showers went off every half hour. We felt like a couple of kids.

“Kitchy fun at this essential Tiki outpost”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2013

Even if you are not a devotee of Tiki culture, this is still a stop worth making. Never have I seen a Tiki bar this big and so outrageously decorated. Featuring a big pool in the center with a floating bandstand, frequent simulated rain storms, and a dance floor on the deck of a ship festooned with actual masts from historical ships. They really went all out for this place. Even your most reserved friends will find it hard not to give in to the infectious energy of this place when the band is grooving and the Mai Tai's are flowing.

“Cheesy kitch, but good food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2013

First impression: Did I get out of a time machine into the 1950's? Cheesy thatched roofs and regular "thunder storms" make you feel like Gilligan and the Skipper are going to appear any moment. We went having heard so much about the place. The bar menu was tasty and relatively cheap. Pick the pork belly sliders and soba noodles off the bar menu (skip the buffet?) - very tasty and well presented. But, the Pina Colada was pretty tasteless - for $9 a big disappointment. And the service was S-L-O-W. Take it for what it is, and you will enjoy it.

“Kitchy but fun!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013 via mobile

Been to San Francisco several times and this place has always been closed. It was renovated and reopened recently. Happy Hour from 5-7 with inexpensive and potent tropical drinks. The tropical shower storm is kinda hokey but expected. Great staff and great location.

“Go To Lounge and Restaurant when in San Francisco”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2013

We arrived and were greeted and seated with pleasure on a Thursday evening during their happy hour. The buffet they offered at a great price was amazing along with many drink specials. Christine our bartender was very pleasant and fun who made the experience even better. By the looks of what was going on behind the bar all the tenders were having fun and really enjoying what they were serving up. Within an hour of opening it was packed and the Tonga room was filling up for dinner guests. The lounge, bar and hotel were impeccable. It was a lot of fun and I will return again each time I'm in San Francisco.
