“Our stay in San Francisco Ca”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2014

I thought the room was a good value for the money at half the rate of the cheapest motels in the area , our room was clean , the people at the front desk were helpful and kind , helping us to maneuver around the city using the city bus lines and taking time to show us things on the map.

Where do I start!
1. It's not Knights Inn
2. The room had smashed windows that were taped back up. These were right next to the fire escape so really, really safe!
3. The site I booked on there was a continental breakfast. They offered juice and coffee in the office!
4. There was no hot water in the shower and only hot water in the wash basin.
5. There was no cable as advertised. There was barely an image on the tv - plus with all the noise coming in from the broken/taped windows you couldn't hear the tv even if you wanted to watch it.
6. There was a broken light socket, taped up with a plastic bag - cause plastic won't melt if the live wire sparked!
7. I was completely attacked by fleas.
DO NOT STAY HERE! Awful doesn't even cover it!
I tried to complain but could never find anyone around to complain. I was told on check inn there was no refunds (should've seen that as a sign!) Worst place I've ever stayed at!!!

This is not named Knights Inn it's the Alpha Inn. We were given room 225 OMG it was awful as soon as you stepped in the room it smelt terrible, damp and musty. The walls were filthy as was the windows & net curtains the other curtains were hanging off the rails & you couldn't see out of the windows as they were thick with dust & dirt. The fridge didn't work and there were no coffee machine the bedding was stained and worn.
The towels in the bathroom were worn and threadbare. We complained and were moved to another room not much better. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

At check in, we walked to the glass door opened by a buzzer and were told our actual building wasn't the Knights Inn but actually the Alpha Inn down the street. When we got to the Alpha Inn, we thought it looked nice because of the parking, heated pool, and welcoming manager. Those were the only good things about the place (we never got to try the pool).

We first entered the building from a glass door just outside the parking lot (which was locked the rest of our short stay). Upon entering, there was a strong musty smell which was probably due in part to a giant mold stain on the ceiling just before the staircase leading up to our room. This got us a little worried, but we ignored it because maybe the room was still going to be ok.

When we got to the room, we dropped our bags and noticed a poof of dust. The chairs and curtains were stained with... let's not go into that. Everything about the place screamed unsanitary. My girlfriend opened the toilet with a "sanitized" sticker and was greeted with a big, nasty hair on the seat. The blankets on the bed had holes. The room was poorly heated by two small, dusty space heaters on tables next to the bed. It's a good thing we brought a sheet to sleep on.

Pros:
Large, cheap room
has tv
microwave
refrigerator
all basic necessities

Cons:
You don't want to use any of the things listed above because it's so gross.

It's too bad because it seemed like there was so much potential and the manager was really nice.

First of all: The place is not called Knights Inn. 2505 Lombard Street is called Alpha Inn and Suits. I don't know why it is advertised as a Knights Inn!

But anyways, the place is really awful in general!

The room was dirty and smelled terrible. Towels and bedsheets were partly ripped. The bed gave us the worst backaches ever.

The clerk was a kinda sweet old guy, but his English was terrible and he couldn't help us with the easiest things (for example: Where is the nearest Starbucks?).

The free parking is a joke. Spots are super small, so if you drive a bigger car you're lost!

The free wifi was terribly slow most of the time and kept breaking down.

Breakfast was coffee and juice.

There was a lot of noise from the outside and from adjoining rooms. Also we had to climb over dirty towels and sheets lying in the hallway every single time we wanted to get to our room!

The only good thing was the location.

I would never go there again!

Room Tip: Just do not go there. Find a better place!

When we booked this room, it was a Knights Inn, but the sign said Alpha when we checked in. We booked and paid for a king with continental breakfast, wifi, fridge, and microwave. We got a queen with no breakfast and no microwave. We had to step over and around dirty linens that were on the hallway floor to get to our room. There was a hole in the bathroom wall. The curtains were filthy, and they were ripped in half so only the top half of the window was covered by the sheers. The bed was not very comfortable, and there were only two very small pillows. The air conditioning consisted of a pedestal fan, and there were no screens on the windows. Our friends had a room with broken window panes that had been repaired with strips of tape. Their windows were covered with bird excrement as well as dirt. Their room had can lights in the ceiling, but one was stuffed with plastic grocery bags. When I called the hotel directly to get a name or number for the Alpha Inn customer service, the person who took my call first only told me the name and address of the hotel; then he said they had no customer service and hung up on me. I did write to the Wyndham group, which has Knights Inn as one of their hotel chains, and I am waiting to hear from them. We've stayed in many hotels, some of them budget, others quite high end, but I have never experienced anything like this place! It was not worth the free parking they offered, which was one reason we booked here. I've been in hotels booked through Priceline that charged one third of the cost of this one, and those were far better regarding comfort and cleanliness.

Fairly basic for the cost of the room. The location is very good, near the Golden Gate Bridge and the art museum.

The rooms are quite dated and in need of doing up, although there is a sign saying 'brand new rooms', so this might be in progress.

What I can say though, is the owner / manager is incredibly friendly and helpful and was very chatty on my arrival. She seemed genuinely interested in my holiday.
