“Eat here, the food is great!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2013

I had dinner at Isa on a Sunday with three friends and we had a wonderful time. We all picked from the prix fixe meal which gives choices of starters, mains and cheese or dessert. . I had the salmon carpaccio starter, the flat iron steak and ended with aged goat cheese drizzled with honey. Everything we ordered was great and there was plenty of food.
There are a lot of great choices for the small plates and one could easily make a meal out of them. There is a bar menu with several starters, cocktails and glasses of wine at $5 if you order before 7pm, really a great deal!
The atmosphere is comfortable and the place was very busy so it was a bit loud. The service was friendly and the waiters were helpful with describing the menu items when we had questions. They were a little slow in clearing our plates when we were done.
Next time I'm in the Marina, I'll go back for more!

“Nom nom certified. Best. Crete brûlée. Ever.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2013

Started out with the lettuce salad that had a deliciously light vinaigrette to go with the candied pecan and cheese, followed by a tasty teaser - potato leek soup. The next pat if the meal - the truffle risotto and spaghetti were aaahmazing (extra brownie points for the truffle risotto - it tasted every bit as glorious as it's regal mushroomy presentation)!

A word to vegetarians: you're covered. Amply covered. Deliciously covered. And did I mention the service? Impeccable!

Desserts (because it deserves its own section): Apparently the chocolate cake is the rage, and of course it would be, with it's warm melting chocolate happiness and fluffy texture...BUT, the creme brûlée is still ze bomb. Crackly caramel topping capturing smooth custard delights. Just can't go wrong with that.

“Just average, food disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2013

We went to Isa as we got a recommendation from two different friends but were rather disappointed. The atmosphere was really nice especially in the back but the food was really not good. The grilled calamari was served with white beans and very intense olives which just didn't work very well together. The fish of the day was ok but came again with these olives. Also the spinach and the mussels can be prepared in a much more delicious way. Wouldn't recommend this restaurant.

“An absolute gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2013

We sat at the bar as we were early and the restaurant was packed. by the tike we werew seated we were feeling no pain. Even then I would have to say that the small plate dishes were fantastic. The scallops, the bass wrapped in potatoes, the truffle rissotto... yum. a great first night in SFO this trip.

“Terrific and so Yummy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2013

We don't like tapas typically, but decided to try this place anyway. It was wonderful. The portions are medium sized -- so we split 4 items and were completely filled. We had the butter lettuce salad, potatoe leek soup, sea bass wrapped in potatoe and truffle spaghetti. It was so good! I also tried a Malbec wine which was unforgettable. The mohito in my opinion was just so so with too much ice and too much mint leaf. Oh well. The waiter probably was the nicest guy I have ever met. Very sweet. The only down side is the place can get very very loud. You are pretty close to other tables and a group of 4 near you laughing hysterically can be distracting. I won't fault them for large groups of laughing people enjoying great food. Definitely coming back.
