Waited for lunch one day after reading reviews on Trip Advisor. It was near our hotel on Nob Hill, only a few stops down on the California cable car line. Boy did we wait. An hour and a half. Because the inside is so small. I admit I had my rethinking moments but ended up sticking it out. I am so glad I did. The family that owns and runs the Swan were so gracious from the minute we got our stools at the counter. They thanked us for waiting and put my pocketbook behind the counter for me so I didn't have to keep it over my shoulder. Service was very friendly and efficient. The menu is small, so if you come here its for seafood cocktails, salads or oysters basically. We started with a dozen oysters on the half shell, and watched as they opened them right in front of us and put them on ice. They were the freshest oysters I have ever tasted. It continued to get better when my combination Louis salad arrived at the table overflowing with shrimp and large chunks of Dungeoness crab. The dressing was great too. The combo cocktail also had plenty of large fresh bits of seafood in just the right amount of cocktail sauce. A large piece of smoked salmon was sitting behind the counter in front of me and every now and then they would slice off a few pieces for a plate. When I commented on how amazing it looked our guy sliced off a piece and handed it to me to try. It was really like butter. Oh well. Next time. And I will be back, heck with the wait.
