I really enjoyed lunch at Cha Cha Cha on Haight. The atmosphere is fun and funky with a cool vibe with a nod to Santeria in its decor... with religious pictures and collages on the walls. The restaurant sported large tropical plants and bright table cloths. We ate from the tapas menu and the food was the best Caribbean cuisine I ever had, and I've had my share, mostly southern Florida and the Caribbean. With a friend, I shared a delicious warm spinach salad with mushrooms, onions and generous chucks of bacon in a dijon/sherry dressing, Chicken Paillard in a delicate cream sauce, excellent Spanish rice with black beans and amazing fried platanos (sweet plantains) with a black bean sauce and sour cream. We also shared a half pitcher of sangria which was absolutely delicious and refreshing! We were completely satiated with food left over. The waitstaff was super friendly and attentive. The restaurant charged 4% upcharge to support Healthy San Francisco, a program that provides basic health care needs to low income people in the city, and matches your donation. I was glad to pay this as I really appreciated the social consciousness. If you're looking for a fun, unpretentious place for lunch or dinner, I highly recommend Cha Cha Cha!
