“beyond our expectations”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2012 via mobile

This place was recommended by a friend from SFO and we were so glad we found this gem! Tried burmese food for the first time, it was really nice and unique. Since it was the first time, a chef came and explained the cuisine and talked about it, which was a really nice touch. Loved the samusa soup, definitely try that. Quantity and the spice level were just perfect. Also tried the burmese curries and tea leaf salad, turned out great too. The coconut rice is another must try, just sweet enough. A nice exotic dinner for an all vegetarian group like us. Overall, its a great experience for people who want to try cuisine from this part of the world.

“Yum!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2012

I tried Burma SuperStar after a friend referred it and then reading online reviews. It's on Clement St. in SF, an interesting area to explore (primarily Chinese shops and restaurants). Burma is simple in decor but complex and delicious in food. I had to try the 22 ingredient tea leaf salad after reading all about it and I agree - it could become addictive! (Trust me - I doubt you've ever had anything quite like it!) I shared the salad and a pork curry entree served with coconut rice for lunch and everything was excellent. Our waitress could not have been nicer - very warm and accommodating.

“Fabulous food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2012

The wait is long, be prepared, but so worth it! We waited 1.5 hours to get in. There is no waiting area; they take your phone number and call you about 5-10 min before your table is ready. You can go about your business, go to a bar, wander, many live by so they wait at home. There is no parking lot and the parking is horrible. Only street parking. You can give them your name and then use the time looking for a parking spot. It took us about 30 mins. to find one. It's located in a very popular asian area of shops and restaurants. We had Tea Leaf salad, Oxtails in Claypot, Chili Lamb and Mango Chicken. All fabulous and would have again. People were raving over the Chili Lamb on other reviews, so I tried it. While good, it was not the best dish we had. They ask right away if you are allergic to nuts or shrimp, which was appreciated. It is definitely a great stop for dinner, but don't be in a hurry!

“Addictive!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

Their tea leaf salad and their rainbow salad are absolutely amazing - I've never had salads that were so intricate (the rainbow salad has 24 ingredients) and so delicious! Every bite was a delight. This is a must-visit, imo.

“Excellent meal in San Francisco, highly recommended!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

This is another "do not miss" restaurant in San Francisco. We wanted to try so many dishes
and salads but the portions were too big. We had the tea leave salad and it was really good
and plenty for two people. The 20 ingredient salad is next on our list. The waitress was very friendly
and helpful. We shared and appetizer then a one meal of lamb curry then dessert. If we had ordered
two entrees it would have been two much. Dinner for two, salad, appetizer, dinner and dessert
with wine for $60! What a bargain in SF!! Don't miss this one.
