“Great pastries!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013 via mobile

Had heard great things a out this place. Yes, line was almost an hour at 9 on a Sunday, but worth it. Croissants were very reminiscent of Paris. I would definetly go back to try the desserts.

“Best bread, cookies and croque monsieur outside of Paris”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2013

Feels silly to review this place because it's following is so extensive. Lines around the block daily when the bread comes out around 3. Building front is painted black and there is no name on it--really!?--isn't that a bit obnoxious. But, still the best baked goods outside of Paris.

“Popular bakery”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2013

Loved the grill sandwiches, was told the bakery is famous for their almond pastry, will definenately try that. Loved all their pastries and cakes display too. Wish I had more people with good appetite with me so I can sample variety.

“Well worth the wait”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2013

I waited in line for a while, but the wait was well worth it. I had a delicious croissant and a chocolate banana torte. Both were simply amazing. This bakery was recommended to me by a friend who used to live in the neighborhood. He went often and his waistline showed it!

“Is it REALLY the best?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2013

Waited in line for nearly an hour for a morning bun, a hazelnut tart and gougiere. All were very tasty - particularly the morning bun - and clearly well-made. It clearly deserves its reputation as an excellent bakery, but I can't help but wonder if it isn't a bit over-hyped. I don't mind waiting for truly excellent food, but I've had similarly amazing pastries at very excellent bakeries in other cities that didn't have even a quarter of the wait time. Maybe there's just nowhere else in SF that measures up.
