“Awesome experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2013

This was our first dinner at Le Colonial, and we loved it! The location is tucked away, but once you walk through the doors, the charm of the restaurant takes over. The appetizer sampler gives you e opportunity to try several different appetizers. After that, we split an entree and rice. But save room for the banana split dessert!

“Nice Dinner”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2013

Great pleasant spot. It is smart-casual...It has an outdoor area that makes it very romantic. The food is nice. The service is very good. The (not fried) spring rolls are excellent. The white jasmine rice is delicious. The pot stickers are average. We had a French Rose wine from Aix-En Provence that was excellent with the food. We enjoyed the chicken.
The restaurant had a swing dance lesson on their upper floor and it sounded that the roof was going to crash...So when you book, ask about that. It did not bother us.

“Wondeful recommendation from the hotel concierge.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2013

We requested recommendations from our concierge for asian influenced cuisine and this was on his list. What a stroke of luck for us. We never would have discovered this place without his help. We were a little early for our reservation- which we booked on Open Table- so easy. Started the evening at their upstairs bar that turns into a nightclub/dance club with live entertainment. Decor is very unique with indoor and outdoor seating, mixture of furnishings gave it a tropical with a European twist feel. We went down at our reservation time and our table was ready. It was Saturday night and very busy so we had a little wait for our waiter to check in with us, but not too long. Food was excellent. Waiter made excellent recommendations for appetizers, main dish and side dishes to complement them. So very glad to have this unique San Francisco experience.

“The Hot Club of San Francisco”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2013

I love gypsy jazz and II had heard this group two years ago at the MFA courtyard in Boston. We learned that they played, with no cover, at Le Colonial. While we had fine Vietnamese food we listened to one of the best US groups in this style. There was the added bonus of watching couples swing dance to the music. It is too easy to hear jazz and forget that it is dance music. The band responded to the energetic dancing with great skill and passion.
We had a fine time and ever if you are not familiar with the music or the dance you will come away with a smile.

“Hidden upstairs bar with jazz and swing dancing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2013

OK, I didn't actually eat here
I just went to the upstairs bar to listen to the Monday night jazz and watch the swing dancing.
A perfect 1920's style location with cream walls, open balconies and plants swaying with the breeze.
The atmosphere could not be better.
