“Located on SF Bay, a great family place for burger & fries”

Red's is a great inexpensive place with good food located on beautiful San Francisco Bay, near the Bay bridge and the Giants Ballpark is short walk away. yummy!

“The "Dive-Bomb"!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2010

Red's is old, funky and definitely a dive, but it is the BOMB!! The coolest in downbeat atmosphere with great food and prices. Located in an old shack on a pier along the Embarcadero just south of the Bay Bridge, you won't find a better breakfast for under 7 bucks anywhere and their lunches are similarly sumptuous & inexpensive. Lots of old iconic photos of SF and elsewhere, indoor and outdoor (patio/pier) dining, great views of the Bay and Yerba Buena and Treasure islands, and a short walk to beautiful AT&T Park, home of baseball's Giants. If you want fancy and pretentious, this ain't your place (too bad!), but if you want great grub and in a gritty downhome joint, this is it!

“Great place for burger before game”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2009

We went to Red's on advice from Anthony Bourdain from the show, 'No Reservations.'

First, the food. It was OK. The double cheeseburger was good. Nothing spectacular. The fries were extremely ordinary. The fried onion rings were the same; ordinary. That was all we had.

Second, the atmosphere. Its a burger joint on a pier in a beautiful city. Its extremely authentic without pretending to be anything extra. That is the appeal, and it works.

Some quick hits...
- No service as its the type of place where you order at the counter and find a seat
- Luckily, there were seats when we got there... if not, what do you do?
- It can get windy/cold sitting outside so be prepared
- It closes early
- Walking distance to AT&T Park

I would definitely go back. But, I wouldn't go out of my way to get there. Also, I would only go if it were before a baseball game, as it is kind of out of the way of a lot of other places except for the Ferry Building.

“Good and Bad”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2009

Red's has a lot going for it: San Francisco institution status, bargain prices, a sunny outdoor deck on the water, and easy parking.

The biggest con: the food. Burgers are pretty poor. French fries are OK.

All that being said, it's a fun place to sit outside and have coffee or a beer on a nice day.

“Great Breakfast served w/ Character”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2008

It's an old dive under the Bay Bridge. Food is great. Get a lot for your Dollar. Nice view towards the south bay from outback seating. This is an old building with character so don't expect anything fancy. Your taste buds will thank you and it might take you back a few years.
