On May 7, 2010 we phoned for a reservation at L'Olivier for 9PM. When we arrived we were disappointed to find that the main dining room was given over to a private party and we, along with other patrons, were shunted off into an unattractive, brightly lit function room. As we were seated we were abruptly informed that the kitchen closed at 9:30 (although their website shows they are open until 10:30).
When I complained to the young lady acting as manager/Maitre d' all she did was stare at me. I think it is unprofessional for a restaurant not to advise clients that a private party is scheduled, and very unprofessional not to make apologies when a complaint is registered.
We will not be returning to L'Olivier.
