Maya is in the financial district of San Francisco and I chose it because it was within tequila-influenced walking distance of my hotel and it had been a long time between Mexican meals. Travelling on my own I decided to sit at the bar which was busy with people who had started on the Margaritas some time before me... The atmosphere was friendly and warm and these guys have a serious range of tequilas. I ordered a couple of speciality enchiladas (appetiser size) which came out looking great however the chicken enchilada was a little dry. Flavours were good (especially the mole sauce) and I was very comfortable with the serving size, however it was small by American standards. I tried a couple of different margaritas and then moved to high-grade tequilas which were of a very high standard. I finished with a draft Mexican heavy beer which had real flavour - a cut above your average Corona. If you are looking for a good quality Mexican meal and want to try a range of Mexican tequila and beer then Maya is a bit of fun.
