We hadn't been to Tadich Grill in 20+ years. Having read recent positive reviews, we decided to go back for old time's sake on our last trip to SF. We weren't disappointed. It still has the classic San Francisco decor and white aproned servers. Altho it's bustling, the host and wait staff were very attentive. Not much had changed over the years, but if it's a classic, it doesn't need to.
The best, least frustrating way to dine is at the counter. (The host had suggested it if we didn't want to wait for a table.) it was fine for us for lunch, and it's actually fun to watch the goings on of the wait staff from this perspective. We were there for lunch at 1:00 and we were able to grab two stools right away. I had the cioppino, one of my TG favorites - it's the best I've ever had. It's too bad they don't offer a lunch portion. I didn't dare NOT order it, but it was way to much food for lunch. My husband's seared ahi was also excellent. The salad in a lettuce leaf "bowl" was a nice, creative touch.
