“Fantastic meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

My wife and I enjoyed a very well prepared, tasty meal. Service was first class, easily the best meal we had while in San Francisco. I would recommend this for anybody who wants a high end meal.

“Atmosphere detracts from food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

This is a loud, trendy, hip restaurant. The tables are small and close together. The chair of the man behind me kept hitting me. From one direction, there is a nice view of the Bay Bridge, the other direction is average. The kitchen is open, adding to the already loud room noise level. We thought it was interesting that the chefs did not have on hair nets. There were some service issues. We both had on coats, and the hostess (no maitre d) didn't offer to take them until we were at our seats. So we got to struggle with them in a small area. We got the impression that they wanted us in and out. When we left, we had to track down the valet for him to call us a cab. My wine didn't arrive till halfway through my salad course. The food was very good, but we thought it lacked character. I will say that the pomagranate sorbet with candied rind was innovative and unique. Prices were reasonable. If we hadn't eaten at Fleur de Lys the night before, we might have enjoyed this more. I'm sure lots of people love this place...we just prefer more classic dining. We would not recommend this for fine dining, we would suggest eating at the open kitchen bar for lunch.

“Enjoyable in every way”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013

We recently had dinner in this beautiful restaurant. Service was friendly and unpretentious. Our appetizers were simply delicious and mains were excellent as well. A tiny quibble was with one dessert, as the red velvet cake was a little dry. The wine selection was first rate and all in all it was a very pleasant dining experience. We would all go back.

“Solid French-inspired fare, speedy service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013

This place seems to have it all. Ambiance is that of a busy Paris Café, the open kitchen that is well choreographed yet every so often gives a hint of chaos (e.g., billowing smoke from the oven), a service staff that is quiet, and there when you need them, but most of all, really great food prepared to perfection. This was the best meal that we experienced during our week in the Bay Area in terms of overall quality of preparation and melding of elements on the plate. Everything from my starting cucumber gimlet to the last bite of the pecan cake dessert was just great. We'll certainly be back.

“Best dinner I have had in a few years”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013

Each course was excellent. Every bite was great. The service staff knows their food and alchohol. The atmosphere is elegant yet not stuffy. There is nothing not to like about this restaurant. It is expensive; our tab for 2 with 3 courses and 1 drink each was $ 160. But worth doing.
