Ten Ichi, located at 2235 Fillmore, is the best Japanese restaurant I've ever been to and so I keep going back often. It has a great location on Fillmore between Sacramento and Clay, in SF. All the food is excellent: fresh, tasty, with very generous portions. It has a quiet, tranquil feeling and yet is a favorite of many families with kids. I have favorites that I get over and over. I love their special spicy saute chicken with green beans. It is delicious and also served in such a pretty way; the food looks very appealing. Most recently, I tried their early bird special of vegetarian bento box. It was so good. There was a very nice spicy (but never to burn your mouth) eggplant dish, vegetable tempura, salad, and even a vegetable sushi roll. It was very satisfying. The menu includes meats, oysters, fish; lots of choices. The menu includes meats, oysters, fish; lots of choices. I especially enjoy their Popeye Roll, spinach and shitaki mushroom; anything with soba noodles--the chicken salad with soba is a terrific cold dish; and all the big soupy things. They have an extensive selection of sake; I like their house selection hot. The owners, an exceptionally attractive, intelligent family, are often there attending tables and bringing an enthusiastic. welcoming presence. I don't think they deliver, but it is possible to call in an order to go in and pick up to take home.
