“Beautiful Ambience + Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2013

From the moment you walk in, the decor and the ambience are lovely. The maitre'd was very charming and personable which we immediately liked. As we were there to celebrate a very special occasion, we were prepared to splurge and it lived up to our expectations of a very special evening.

Service was impeccable - the timing (all dishes brought and served at the same time), quality of food, ingredients used, presentation, flavor, etc., were all top notch. On the evening we were there, the chef did a fabulous job, no complaints. The wine selection was extensive although the mark up was considerable.

Would we return? If we can afford to, we certainly would.

“Amazing food...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2013

Great food but incredibly pricey. You can't fault this place for the price. You know it beforehand so it's not really fair to critique it for that.

“Service upstages kitchen”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2013

While the service is superlative (if somewhat fussy), the food did not measure up. Appetizers had pervasive cilantro flavors and the salmon crudo appetizer used spoiled fish. It was so disgusting I couldn't finish much of what came afterwards. The manager belatedly came to the table to apologize for my ignorance, and assured me the chef tried it himself and found it good. Trying to pass off spoiled fish is a cardinal sin in my book. I think like so many fancy places, Quince suffers from a narcissistic diturbance with comorbid megalomania. There are many wonderful alternatives in the city and we will not return to Quince. Incidentally, we were billed for the appetizer even though it was inedible. My Nonna would have said, "molto rumore per nulla." (Much Ado About Nothing). Hanno fatto schiffo.

“Great fine dining”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2013

had the chef's tasting menu. excellent food with wine pairing. well paced dinner which lasted almost 3 1/2 hours... the same duration one might expect for a meal in europe. outstanding service with tons of wait staff. decor was chic and modern and tables were spaced apart well. noise level was quite acceptable. definitely plan to unload your wallet. dinner for two with wine pairing shared with my wife came to almost $500 including tip.

my one gripe was at the end of the meal. after the dessert course, the waiter asked if we needed to have valet get our car or did we need a taxi. He simply left the bill. he never asked if we wanted coffee, tea, etc. definitely felt we were being pushed out the door!! I felt that there were eyes on our table as we finished our espresso waiting for us to clear out.
A spoiler on an otherwise flawless evening

“An expensive and truly fabulous evening!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2013 via mobile

Whether you're a foodie or someone who loves a restaurant with a sumptuous look and service that makes you feel pampered, Quince is top notch. The ambience of the restaurant is wonderful. It feels chic and comfortable. I loved the exposed brick in contrast to everything else. From the flowers and lighting to the plate design and the several amuse bouche that arrive soon after you sit down, you quickly learn you're in for an experience. Of course, you pay for it. Four of us got the four course chef's tasting menu with the wine pairings (which i highly recommend) and the check, including tip, was $1,000. The only other option was a 9 or 10 course small, plates tasting menu. The wine list was extensive, interesting and heavy on Italians. It was marked up significantly (3+ times) as you'd expect in a fine restaurant like this. The service was extremely attentive and the valet parking is added to the check. Our favorite dishes were the asparagus with a ricotta pasta (it was spectacular!), suckling pig and the cote du boeuf with beets. The only less-than-stellar note was the cheese plate for dessert. The selections were fairly limited (and all but one domestic). But that is a minor point. The evening was lovely and worthy of a splurge.
