“Pretty good but...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2014

Room 510 was incredibly humid. Pants felt wet when taken out of the closet.
Otherwise fairly quiet, away from the elevator but cleaning lady pretty loud in the morning, slamming the utility closets door back and forth.

The staff is extremely helpful and eager to answer any questions you might have. You're in the heart of San Franscico here, so there's many options of activities to do. The parking was cheap for San Franscico. Had an amazing trip and would defiantly return to this hotel.

I work in San Francisco every 6 weeks or so and have stayed at quite a few hotels throughout the city. I have stayed at the Hotel Adagio twice in the last month and like it-the rooms are a nice size, comfortable and stylish. The staff is helpful and friendly and when I showed up there a few days ago and realized I had booked the wrong number of nights (too few), the manager politely and professionally addressed and solved my issue that evening. The valet parking is expensive but par for the rest of the city-there is actually a garage next door where the parking is considerably less and allows ins and outs. The hotel is in a good location to walk downtown or over to Chinatown. Breakfast is good. Lounge area is nice with complimentary water and coffee. This is actually considered a Marriott boutique hotel so, if you are a member, your points transfer to stays, perks, etc. which is great for me. Slight drawbacks are you can hear people talking in the hallway sometimes as the walls might be a bit thin (not bad though) and the hotel is close to the Tenderloin area so if you walk the wrong direction you can get caught up in not the nicest neighborhood. The TL actually has a few great restaurants here and there and it doesn't bother me much but the "energy" can sometimes be a bit tiring. A few doors down from the hotel is Millenium-really great restaurant. Overall, good hotel for work or vacation and I will stay at the Adagio again.

Thank you Wanderlust2002014 for the pleasant review. I was so happy to read that our staff was helpful and accommodating – I will make sure to pass on the kind words.

As you stated, we do have some of the best restaurants and bars very close in distance to our hotel.

Hope your travels bring you back again soon!

The hotel staff made my stay worth while. The bartender made awesome drink suggestions, guest services was very prompt to take care of my requests and housekeeping did a great job of going above and beyond.

My wife and I recently stayed at this hotel for the first part of out Honeymoon. The hotel came highly recommended and was partly chosen due to the photos on the website and other reviews. The hotel was nice and clean but was slightly under par of what we expected-it was nothing special. The bar was under construction she we arrived (for 3 days) and our room wasn't cleaned for 2 days. Although the location was excellent the rooms were basic as was the menu. The free coffee in the lobby proved to be a highlight; considering the cost of the room this was disappointing.

Thank you Nat S for the review. I was sad to read that we didn’t meet your expectations - we are always looking to improve our hotels amenities and services, unfortunately, we did it during your visit. I do hope that you will visit us again, under different circumstances and experience a better trip.

We used this as our base for 3 days and were pleased with our choice. It's close to Union Square (200 yards) and near to a bustling area off the main high street and close enough to the Powell Street cable car. Food is decent and happy hour is very welcome as the drinks are quite cheap (about £4) and the bar snacks are OK to supplement dinner if the kids are tired etc.

Room Tip: They are all about equal.

Spent 2 nights here for Outside Lands festival this past weekend. Being 2.5 blocks from Union Square, I didn't feel any concern walking anywhere around the property, especially north and east. I received a great rate substantially less than the overpriced neighborhood and immediately had a response to my email request for a top floor (honored). I was able to check in in the mid morning and my room was spacious and felt renovated. Did not use the hotel amenities much but was able to walk to most everything nearby in 5-15 minutes, plenty of great food/shopping right near by.

Room Tip: Forego the maid service to get the free wifi...
