“Excellent boutique hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2014

Excellent hotel in every aspect. Perfect location. Staff were all excellent. Mortimers was perfect for cocktails and light meal. Green Room breakfast was outstanding!! Valet parking was a bit on the expensive side.

My first stay was a pleasant surprise.
I always at the Stanford Court but they are no longer in the Marriott system.
Price and location had me stay at Adagio.
The staff couldn't have been nicer. There wasn't a Bible in my room but one was provided by the time I returned for evening #2.
Internet service worked very well.
Not having CNBC and the shower spray flowing a little more water were the two things I missed.

Room Tip: CNBC, more water flow in the shower and a Bible in the room

Dear Michael S,
I’m so glad that you enjoyed your stay at our property. We are a silver level green property, this could have been the ‘flowing’ from the water that you experienced with your shower. We’re glad that we could provide you with the items that you requested.

Looking forward to your next visit!

Sincerely,
Michael Pace

Walked into our room and was overwhelmed at how large the rooms were for a city hotel! Very spacious and well appointed. Everyone at the hotel was gracious and ready eager to assist you. We did not have any contact with the concierge since my son lives in the city and showed us around. The front desk personnel were all helpful for whatever we needed.
The breakfast room was very comfortable, bright, and had an open kitchen. The food was exceptional and portions were huge! Most breakfast entrees were so large you could split them! The stuffed French toast and the pumpkin pancake could have fed a family of four! (A little exaggerated). The fresh fruit with lavender honey was very generous and also large enough to share.
Didn't get a chance to visit the bar for happy hour though it looked busy and the drinks looked delicious...$4 happy hour drinks.
The fresh water with various different Fruits in it each day were refreshing. Was a nice touch that you didn't have to drink out of plastic cups....nice glasses to enjoy the water.
24 hour coffee and tea...great coffee and a wide selection of teas.
The location of the hotel is borderline union square and the tenderloin. It's NOT in the middle of the action. We liked that we were not in the "thick of it" and not in a huge hotel with crowds all over the lobby. The hotel was intimate and we liked that part of it.
There is a great outdoor bar on Jones street...called Jones...great for drinks...don't know about the food. Great Vietnamese restaurant on Geary St. Called Ahn Hong Phu Nhuan....get the Number 1! 7 course steak dinner for $21... Believe me you won't be disappointed! One of our favorite inexpensive meals!
Hotel offers a great car service to the airport for $50...we were driven in a limo....very comfy and nice!
Left part of my heart in San Francisco so I'll have to go back to Adagio to get it!
Ps...the only negative was that the fan in the bathroom was somewhat loud....

Room Tip: As always in cities a room on the upper floors are the best!

Hotel is smaller than the usual Marriott experience, but building has more character as well. Very friendly staff, nice bar. less hustle and bustle. great location to see a show at the Curan Theatre, Conservatory Theatre or Biscuits & Blues.

Room Tip: Plumbing made some noise, old pipes I guess.

Service was great but didn't like the neighbourhood. Breakfast room needs an espresso machine. Elevators look tired.

I wouldn't return here again when there are so many other choices in the area on nicer portions of Geary or on nicer streets.

Dear RoyandRobinUK,
Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. We’re looking into getting one of those fancy espresso machines for the breakfast area. As a historic property and thus we have the charm of the mix of contemporary and classic.

It’s very sad to hear that you won’t be returning, we loved having you and I would love to talk to you personally regarding your stay. We look to "Wow" our guests and anything that can do to ensure that when you do come back you enjoy it so much that you just HAVE to return. Please don’t hesitate to call me or the Front Office Manager, Patricia at 415-775-5000.

Sincerely,
Michael Pace

Stay was great, but the wireless internet connection was hopeless. That's almost enough to force me to stay somewhere else given how much I need to work at the hotel when I'm in town, Overall nice property.

Room Tip: Make the wireless work.

Felt safe walking to the convention center. Don't get a room next to the elevator on a Friday night. Too loud. My room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. Love the pillows, never slept so good. Where can I buy them?

Room Tip: rooms near elevator very loud

Franci329-
So glad that our hotel worked for you – 4-stars is great! Thank you!

The pillows are Pacific Coast – it’s has a pillow chamber in the middle and down around the remainder…I agree super comfortable!
