“Vintage Theater”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

I like anything vintage in good condition. It shows people care about their history and past. This theater has a facade that I could gaze at for a while admiringly.

“Beautiful Theatre”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2013 via mobile

An iconic symbol for the nieghborhood outside, inside it takes you back to a golden age when films were shown in palaces. If your lucky before your film the grand organ will be playing before sinking into the stage. Check their schedule, they play old films as well as current releases.

“Golden Age Glamour!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2013

The Castro Theater is historic and gorgeous! A live person plays the organ before movies and it is a flashback to the golden age of Hollywood. They show all kinds of films here, from the San Francisco International Film Festival red carpet events, contemporary movies such as Milk. And best of all they do campy fun screenings such as sing-a-long with your favorite films (Grease, The Sound of Music, The LIttle Mermaid). This is located in the heart of the Castro, after all! No matter what you see, this is the theater to see it in.

“A must see place in SF”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013

If you are in SF you should visit the Castro.

It is a proper old style cinema, complete with organ!!

It is also just a 10 minute walk from Ike's Place!

Watched Wayne's World there....Excellent!

“grand old lady”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2013

this theatre is beautiful and we even saw an old movie playing in it - it has good sound too! It's on Castro Street. Only caution - there are several men wo walk around / sit around without clothes on on this street - not a family friendly area - so go but leave the kids at the Exploratorium hahahaha!
