“Good Hotel, Enjoyable Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012

Spent 5 nights here - good location near start of tram line, on the coast and lots of restaurants. Our room was clean and comfortable. We had breakfast included which was lovely fresh fruit and choice of toast or pastries a pleasant change from the usual American stodge. The staff in the restaurant were excellent.

Like many other reviewers the only black mark was when we were checking out I had to pay for some local telephone calls and a "raising his eyebrows" and very superior male receptionist insisted I had been phoning Vegas (I wish!) we were not charged but he obviously didnt believe me which was mildly annoying.

We stayed here in October for 5 nights and could not fault the hotel. We were in a junior suite and had a lovely view out over the wharf. Any requests we had were met straight away and the staff were all friendly and cheerful. Enjoyed the wine tasting a few nights. It was for my 40th so was an ideal spot for local attractions and although the wharf is very touristy there is a great selection of restaurants and cafes. We walked to the bridge from the hotel - took approximately 2 hours..... Would come back here anytime

The nautical theme of the hotel was quite nice but I ranked this poor because the staff were more interested in talking to each other than helping guests. From the front desk staff to the door men they were all busy talking amongst themselves and left us waiting. Also, when we requested a taxi they said they couldn't help us because it was fleet week (though cars were able to get to the hotel) and that we should walk 5 blocks up carrying our suit cases! Also, the walls on the rooms were very thin and we could hear people in the hall like they were in our room.

FrequentTraveler39,
Ouch! So very sorry to hear about the negative impression we left you. No excuses, we fell short on this one. We should never be too busy with each other that we keep any of our guests waiting regardless of how busy we might be. Needless to say, I'll make sure your feedback is addressed. Thank you for staying with us, and I hope you would allow us to make it up to you down the line, we certainly want to. Cheers!

Spent 2 nights here after a week in Las Vegas and thoroughly enjoyed it. Great location, fantastic rooms, lovely lounge area with wine tasting every evening at 5pm for one hour, great advice re local restaurants from the guys who served the wine (Scoma's and Pescatore)...only black mark would be to the female receptionist who bluntly told me we were not due to get our room until 3pm...a fact I already knew, having arrived from Las Vegas at 11am, and being politely told the same by her mail colleague, who kindly arranged for our bags to be taken and advised a wee wander around the local area to pass the time. Her attitude however was not enough to put a damper on our wonderfull stay

This is s lovely hotel with perhaps the best location in all of town. The staff are friendly and helpful, the Doorman has a good dry sense of humour. I can only praise it and want to stay there again.

This hotel complimented and matched our very enjoyable stay in San Francisco. Excellent location handy to most everything on the tourist schedule. A very good restaurant attached called the Blue Mermaid where we had the best chowder we have ever tasted. Large room that was very comfortable and homely. Top of the list was the way the honest staff returned my wallet I had accidentally left behind and forwarded it to us in LA., big 'ups' to maid for finding it. Will be back for sure.

Service was poor, especially at the front desk. Great location, great furnishings. However the poor service over-shadowed the experience. Felt as if I was treated less being a solo female guest. The only bright spot was the door man who was the only person to inquire about my stay and provided help in navigating.

tkush,
I am terribly sorry to hear you had such a poor stay with us. No excuses, we clearly dropped the ball on this occasion. Our staff prides itself on providing all our guests exceptional service, and except for our Doorman, we clearly did not.

While certainly not what we hoped for, I find that this type of feedback is extremely valuable as it remains my best tool for working toward and ensuring perfect service! I hope that you would allow us to make it up to you in the future, we definitely want to.

Regards,
