“May 2014”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2014

Good basic hotel for short stay in good location. Local evening amenities good. Easy for catching tour bus and local bus or if you like a walk 30mins to centre. Clean and comfortable. Some parking. We picked this hotel as it said free parking, it should have been described as free limited parking. Best advice don't take a car to San Fran - cheapest daily rate was 20dollars in our location. Staff gave advice on parking. We were given permission to park in disabled bay on arrival at 3pm but had to move it when a disabled person arrived at 9:30pm, luckily someone moved at 6am next morning and as we were awake we bagged the space. Free parking in San Fran only between 10pm & 6am. Parking just not pos in San Fran. Hotel manager reassured us their would be parking evening before and during day people did come and go but pot luck. Hotel manager David was very polite and helpful an asset to the business.

Room Tip: Your going to get traffic noise wherever you stay in San Fran. Don't take car.

I decided to take my 9 and 5 year old sons to the city for a little spring break getaway. Their favorite spot, of course, is fishermans warf so I wanted to get as close as I could without breaking the bank. I used a travel site and looked in order of price. There were a lot that were a bit sketchy and had shared bathrooms....uhhh no thank you. ABVI-GG, had good pictures that were true to life. The astetics were nice and king bed was comfortable. Our room was towards the back where there was less noise from Lombard Street. My kids discovered a staircase that lead to the roof (chained off) where you could see views of the city and the Golden Gate Bridge. That scored high on their kiddo-meter. : ) The breakfast was a bit chinsey (sp?) but I think we got there towards the end. To make up for it there is a great coffe shop next door that has fresh individual drip coffee and pastries. The location was close enough to drive a few blocks for parking near the warf. If you are ambitious it feasible to walk but not my kids! I would definitely recommend this hotel to others and stay again. Thank you for the great stay and friendly staff!

We stayed in this hotel two nights of our road trip up the California coast and we were very pleased. First, the price for a Saturday and Sunday night was UNBEATABLE. The room was nice and had everything we needed- this is not a luxury hotel by any means but all we needed was a clean room with a comfortable bed and hot shower. Parking was an issue as other reviewers have said because it is first come first serve with about 10-15 spots. That being said, we lucked out and got a spot when we arrived at 5pm on Saturday night (1 of 2 spots available) and left the car there the whole time. We took the bus everywhere - the woman at the front desk explained the whole system to us and told us which buses to take to each attraction which was very helpful. We noticed that in the morning until about 3 (when people were checking out) there were always spots so if you timed it right, you'll definitely get one. Lastly, the location of this hotel was GREAT! About 5 minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge, 10 min bus ride to Fishermans Wharf and about 25 min bus ride to Union Square. The neighborhood this hotel was in was cute and trendy with TONS of restaurants, bars, shopping, etc. We had sushi one night, pizza the next, and everything is walking distance in a safe area. Would definitely stay here again and recommend this hotel if you are looking for a cheap stay in a great area! :)

Good value spacious room clean and well equipped. Getting the bus into town was easy, but loads of good places to eat locally. The only down for me is nothing savoury for breakfast but that might be British thing.

Everything's good: cleanliness, space, bed, [tiny] refrigerator, microwave, bathroom, coffee in room. Clerks are above average; cleaning crew mediocre. Parking is a problem, but then it's within walking distance of Ghirardelli, which makes up for it. AM breakfast is totally adequate. Suggest 1st, or 2nd floor (no elevator...)

Room Tip: A/C heater works great.

I stayed in a double bed room in ABVI. The room was neat, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom and toilet were neat. The furniture were good, there were hangers, the mirrors were good. The breakfast had variety and was very good for a quick breakfast, the food items were also new since I travel more I find many hotels serve breakfast with old foods or old utensils but ABVI was tidy. The place is also near to golden gate and fisherman wharfs. Lot of restaurants were near by. The front desk guys were friendly.

The only problem I faced was the black ants, when you put your left over food into the trash, the black ants would dwell on them, sometimes they were on the furniture too but since they were not red ants it was ok

Room Tip: The Double bed rooms are good, if you go for a discounted package you would get a room with less ame...
