“Refreshing simplicity within a bustling city”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2013

Because I live in the country, the noise and crowding of a big city brings undesired stress to a trip. I found Inn at the Presidio perfect because there's none of that to deal with. It's a historic building on a park-like campus -- no hypermodern concrete, noisy bar, or midnight police sirens. The room was simple and clean, with all the amenities needed, but no gratuitous excesses. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful -- easy check-in/out, no-hassle luggage storage, arranged a car to the airport, and printed my boarding pass. The free breakfast was delicious and healthful, and the room rate was reasonable for the high-priced SFO area. Next trip to the City, I'll be back!

A very unique experience staying at the Inn at the Presidio. The hotel is a history lesson set in one of the more beautiful areas of San Francisco - former Presidio Army base. The rooms have all been restored such that you actually can sense what the former officer quarters were like. Loved the hiking trails. The staff definitely goes well out of their way to help you at nearly everything you can imagine. I will definitely be back to stay at the Inn again.

Room Tip: Our room was on the third floor - very quiet and the best view to see the bay. But one needs to know...

We've stayed at the Inn for the Quantified Self Global Conference 2013 which took place at the Golden Gate Club at the Presidio just a few minutes away. The location and amenities at the Inn are more than excellent. Staff is very helpful and the WiFi is extremely fast :-) We had two rooms and were allowed to stay in the rooms with 3-4 people and the staff even provided air matressess. Rooms are extremely spacious and comfortable. I would recommend everyone who has to do business in or around the Presidio to stay at the Inn!

The inn is wonderful. Great accommodations, breakfast, cookies, wine and cheese. The staff is extremely helpful and treats its guests well. And.... and... you get to stay in the beautiful Presidio and.... there are free shuttle buses to take you to the Golden Gate Bridge, the Palace of Fine Arts, to hiking trails all over the Presidio, to the beach, to Crissy Field, .. and ... to downtown San Francisco. Wow.

Room Tip: The top floor has a lovely view of the bay from the sitting room.

Since my sister and I live in NYC we were seeking to stay away from the bustling crowd while in San Francisco. I usually stay at Hotel Vitale because it's across from the water and the Ferry building. Due to the Americas Cup their room rates were triple the usual price so I discovered a NY Times article on the Inn at the Presidio. We booked a suite for the price a standard room would have been at the Sir Francis Drake. It had a large sitting room, bedroom and a beautiful bath. The interiors were so well done without losing the original details of the historic building. Our room rate included a lovely European breakfast and a wine and cheese reception every evening from 5 to 7 where we were able to socialize with other guests. We enjoyed being in the park as we had never explored it in the past. It was peaceful and relaxing. The staff was fantastic! Brett arranged for a car service to pick us up at the airport and also helped us arrange a rent a car that was delivered to the hotel the night before we were leaving for Calistoga. It truly was a pleasant and unique experience! We will be returning!

The room for 2the seniors was $250+tax. Campus was nice, but did not have a lot if time to explore. Wine and cheese reception wss enjoyed around an outdoor fire, meeting new acquaintances. Breakfast was included, which speaks volumes in a city that tends to gouge the traveler. Parking was free - bonus. Room was adequate, with huge shower.
If you can do nostalgic for a night, this is a stay.

The proximity to my daughter and granddaughter were my initial reasons for selecting this Inn. It truly afforded me an opportunity to visit with my 3 year old granddaughter in a pleasant setting. There are many reasons for returning to the Inn including the very friendly staff, the wonderful breakfast, evening wine and cheese and the beautiful surroundings.
