“The Suites”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2014

Like others have noted the outside or exterior is not elegant, but once inside it is a cozy hotel and it is like having an apartment for a few days. My wife and I like to have breakfast in and sometimes lunch and then eat supper out. It is only a couple of blocks to the waterfront, but those two blocks allow you to avoid the packed and touristy waterfront. Staff was great and the view from the rooftop was wonderful. There is no swimming pool and no exercise area but SF is made for walking and you can get plenty of exercise.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 105 and it had a small area outside where you could sit. Other rooms probably had...

Don't be put off by the exterior .. this hotel is great.

We are staying in a one bedroom suite and it is fantastic.
Full size fridge and kitchenette, large living room, lovely bedroom and bathroom.

The Trolley stops out the front and it's a short walk to Fisherman's Wharf.

Great view of Alcatraz from the roof.

Would stay here again and would highly recommend this place to friends & family.

( at the time I booked it was far cheaper than one room at the more well know hotels close by )

We visited this hotel on a family trip and worked very well for us. The condo-style was ideal for us as a family and in such a great location. We were visiting from Houston and it was our first time as a family in San Fransisco. When comparing similar properties in the same area the price was very reasonable. Everything was very nice from the staff, to the bed and the shower. It felt like we were at home and not at a hotel.

We stayed at this property for 4 days and we couldn't be happier. This is a small, condo-type hotel, so do not expect the amenities of a large resort. The location is ideal. A block away from Ghiardelli Square and the Hyde Street Pier. Fisherman's Wharf and all of the attractions are steps away. A cable car stop is right at the hotel's entrance as is a Muni bus stop. There is a Safeway about 4 blocks away where you can stock up on groceries. We stayed in a one bedroom, and it was perfect for four guests. The pull out sofa was the most comfortable I have ever slept on. The rooftop deck was breathtaking...perfect views of Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge. The hotel staff was very helpful, but I have to give a special thank you to Cris at the front desk...always willing to answer our questions about the area, and went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. Thank you!

The Suites at Fisherman's Wharf was the perfect location for our family visit to San Francisco. The location can't be beat - walking distance to Ghirardelli square, and most Fishermen’s wharf attractions - trolley stop out front to go to Union Square and bus line stop along Main Street to get to China Town. Only 2 blocks to get on F-Market trolley bus to get to Pier 39, Alcatraz tour pier, and Exploratorium. (Probably good 20 minute walk if you don't take the bus) We had the SF city pass so all we had to do was show the booklet for unlimited use of trolley's, buses etc. -- Facility - parking is in ground floor garage - stayed for 2 nights and only took car out once to go to Golden Gate Park to see California Academy of Science (driving in and around area is no issue - we even got lucky and drove down an empty Lombard street Tuesday afternoon) - just be aware you will have to pay for parking wherever you go) - If arriving by car there is a space to park until you get checked in, but it wasn't easy to realize that there was a space outside the door as many people waiting for the trolley stand at the same spot along the sidewalk and in the street. - Once checked in, you can unload easily in the garage. Rooms were fine - cleanliness good - we have 3 kids (7, 11, 14) and stayed in the 1 bedroom room so we used a rollaway bed, the couch sleeper and had a queen bed in the bedroom - and we still had lots of room to spare - Bathroom was small but workable - Wi-Fi worked but had better reception in the common area just outside of the room area - rooftop terrace has awesome views of Alcatraz. Best part for us was the service. Chris at the front desk went above and beyond explaining to us how to get where we wanted to go - Also, this was in the middle of our trip so Laundry facilities on site were excellent and allowed us to continue our travels without having to pack excess clothing. Plenty of stores nearby (Walgreens, Safeway, etc.) to get anything needed. I can't imagine any better setup for a visit to San Francisco than the suites at fisherman's wharf.

Room Tip: We stayed on the backside of the hotel (away from the street) and found it very quiet - no noise iss...

We have owned a time share membership here for over ten years and never spent a single night.
The property has always been in high demand and we have always wanted to vacation further from home.
I planned a surprise birthday get away for my hubby. Giants opening exhibition game vs A's, a Foodie Walking Tour, Fishermans Warf and Pier 39.

The hotel...first the good...
The proximity to world class food ( Gary Danko's) and an abundance of seafood and/ or Italian food kept us satisfied every moment of the day. You can walk .1 mile and be at a multitude of eateries that are not fast food.
Cable cars, Fort Mason, the Presidio, the Cannery, Ghiardelli Square, Fishermans Wharf and Pier 39 are all close.
We attended a Giants game via an interesting bus ride to AT&T Park. ( we took a cab home for $4 more).
The interior of the hotel is quite comfortable and meets average hotel standards with a bit more space as they are 'suites' aka mini kitchens in each room. Bathroom is quite small. The bedroom has room for a nightstand on each side of the king size bed but nothing else would fit.
The view from our second floor room looked out over North Pointe (Rd) and let us see a slice of the beautiful SF Bay. The balcony ran the whole length of our room and allowed us to have tons of natural light in the kitchen and living room. The living area was very spacious, clean and open.
The staff are all very friendly.

Now the "not so good"..... This is by far the most unattractive building in a 3-4 block radius. The entrance on Hyde St is unassuming and subtle. Nice even. But the majority of the building faces North Pointe and needs a major face lift.
If you are bothered by city noise it could be a problem. The city buses run along North Pointe and the cable cars run up and down Hyde St. The bedroom is on the interior of the building and didn't bother my husband (I sleep with ear plugs as he snores) .
This is a 'do it yourself' kind of hotel. Don't expect a bellman to be carting your luggage for you.

Room Tip: Buses run along North Point facing rooms (these face the SF Bay) Cable cars run up and down Hyde St...

We stayed here overnight, midweek. We loved everything about it. Beautiful suite with a King and a Queen; cablecars right outside our window, offstreet parking, and the best part was waking up next morning , going over to Starbucks for coffee and, and bringing it back to the rooftop deck for breakfast. We could have stayed up there all day!

Great location for Hyde St cable cars and Fishermans Wharf area. No problem getting a cab right outside to go anywhere else in town. The car stayed in the garage.

What a find! It seems like a very hard place to get a reservation however.

Room Tip: We were on the first floor, Hyde St side and had a semi private terrace outside one bedroom..
