“Amazing Cheese, Not So Great Mac & Cheese”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2013

For cheese tasting this place is hard to beat. They have great quality cheeses with a variety that will cover all tastes. The little treats included with the cheese flights, like the pickles and figs, are a delightful compliment. In addition they have outstanding beer and other beverages to enjoy with the cheese. Definitely recommend this for anyone who loves cheese!
The one thing that takes away for this review being Excellent is that we tried the mac & cheese. It's truly surprising that you can't pick your cheese for the mac & cheese, and aside from that, it's really surprising that it's not very good. The dish was more mac than cheese and it was definitely on the oily side, which might be due to the fact that there seemed to be no cream involved. There was even a bacon bit type of topping that really did nothing to add any flavor. Can't get over how surprisingly unimpressive this dish was at a place that specializes in amazing cheese!

“Great light evening meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

Nice selection of wines. You could watch the staff prepare your cheese and charcuterie plate. The pate was quite good, and the maker of the pate told us about the ingredients and how it was prepared. Nice selection of California cheeses. Too bad some of the menu options were sold out, but that left us enough space in our stomaches for a bite at the Dandelion Chocolate shop down the street.

“Fascinating”

Totally fun place. Great food and beer. Oliver explained goals of the business and how 2 different cheese could bring out different aspects of the same beer. Fascinating!

“Great idea for a restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2013

We stopped here while on Avital Food tour in the Mission District, so didn't get to stay long. Tasted two or three great cheeses, paired with artisan beer, and learned a bit about American cheeses. I will admit the phrase "American cheese" is a bit of a joke in Canada, this place gave us a different view!

“Cheesy treat...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2013 via mobile

I had the California flight of cheese paired with a glass of pinot noir. The Humbolt fog and California blue are a treat. Perfect for a late afternoon snack or early evening appetizer. Great place for people watching.
