“Quaint Gem in the heart of San Francisco”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2014

I traveled in a group of 8 friends including myself. We love how the hotel doubles up as a museum that allows us to learn more about the military and Marines. A surprise find that fits perfectly our budget and comfort level. Rooms were good, we love the breakfast spread which gives us a good start for the day. Hotel is nearby to cable car stops and Union Square. It is easy to get around San Francisco. Even though our rooms were facing the roads, we had no issues with any noise. We had two rooms which were on the same floor but slightly apart from each other, we hope to get connecting or at least side by side rooms in the future. We did not make use of the happy hour as we were out during the day.

We those this hotel, because it had nice reviews, because it was close to downtown and because they have breakfast included. Well beside that We found out that the Club Hotel has also a very nice atmosphere. The rooms are a little bit small, but it is all there and that little bit extra that you don't see in other hotels. The Breakfast is very good and it is wonderful to have a beautiful view of the city on the 12th floor. The only little downside is the slow supply of hot water. You just have to be careful, when standing under the shower. It takes for ever and when you think it is comfortable, it becomes even warmer. But that is all. People are nice and we would chose it again.

We stayed here overnight on a last minute weekend trip to San Francisco. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The lobby is filled with historic information about the marines - very interesting. Our rooms were very comfortable. Sunday morning we had the buffet breakfast that was included in our room price. Excellent breakfast and the waiters were very friendly.

We stayed at the Marines' Memorial Club with friends from Europe and were again very pleased by the experience. The Club is very convenient to everything walkable in downtown SF, has a terrific view from the 12th Floor Steakhouse, and includes a buffet breakfast each morning. The staff, from the bell captain to the front desk to the servers in the Steakhouse were excellent, friendly, and helpful. The Library on the 11th Floor is a great place to relax before or after a meal or just to read a book or one of the service-related magazines in the Library. We are members and stay here regularly; standards and service have not slipped. Of course, anyone who has ever stayed here knows that parking in downtown SF is a bear; closest parking is one half block on Sutter at the Olympic Club garage, where they charge extra for Chevy Suburbans!

Absolutely the secret of San Francisco hotels. Great hotel with perfect amenities!

The hotel was originally opened in 1946 and is as clean as the day it was opened. A touch of class that not man hotels have these days.

Marines Memorial is not just for military personnel. It is a hotel full of character with very friendly, helpful staff. Everywhere is very clean and our bedroom had lovely bedding and towels, toiletries etc.
Hotel is very close to Union Square and cable cars with great access to all the city, which we managed to walk around in 3 days, including the Golden Gate Bridge
Had a beautiful meal in the hotel's Leatherneck restaurant overlooking San Francisco city lights.
Definitely worth eating here, We booked to make sure
Every day between 4pm & 6pm there is a happy hour with free drinks.
There was plenty of choice at breakfast.
Try and get a room on a high floor because of the street noise. We were on 4th floor and were disturbed by the next hotel's air conditioning pipe which came out near there.
Would thoroughly recommend this hotel

Room Tip: Choose a room on a high floor for less noise
