“Excellent Downtown location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2012

Parking garage three door up. Nice older establishment with a decent restaurant. We enjoyed both a dinner and a breakfast here. Good staff wanting to make your stay enjoyable. Nothing fancy but a good room at a reasonable price.

Definitely a little bit different than your typical business hotel. This place has photos of marines all over the walls and some uniforms and other Marine memorabilia.
The bedroom was nice and big with a good work desk, flat screen tv, and fridge.
The bed was very comfortable. I was disappointed in the flickery fluorescent light for the vanity area and the shower/toilet room was small and cramped. You have to go in and close the door to access the shower.
The free breakfast was good and the view was great from the restaurant. Staff is very nice. Overall I recommend it.

Room Tip: room 312's window looks at a brick wall and a fire escape. Not so nice if you want a view from y...

Hotel was located only 3 blocks from Union Square and convenient to public transportation. The breakfast each day was awesome. We had a King size room that was spacious and very clean.
We had an amazing view from our room on the 5th floor. Each night they have a complimentary Happy Hour from 4 - 6 PM and they make awesome Martinis.

Stayed at the hotel in September for a wedding in the hotel. The hotel is not fancy but was comfortable. The staff were nice and accommodating. The breakfast was good and plentiful. The location was perfect. Would recommend if your just looking for a comfortable place to stay without all the fancy bells and whistles. The room we stayed in was a bit noisy in the morning due to consruction and trash pickup

My husband is in the Royal Air Force and I found this hotel searching around on TripAdvisor. The room was so reasonably priced as a serving military member compared to the other hotels in the area. When we got there, the staff was incredibly friendly. The room was huge and very clean, though we were looking out at a brick wall. They offer ice machines and mineral water machines on the floors meaning we didn't have to buy bottled water each day while we were out touring. The complimentary breakfast had so many choices that it was great for starting the day and who can complain about a 2 hour complimentary happy hour each day??? We ate at the restaurant one night and found the food to be delicious and well priced. The one complaint that I have is that the windows were like paper so we could hear every bit of street noise even though we were on the 7th floor. This was definitely problematic on Saturday night when the bars close at 1am. The noise outside was a nightmare! Definitely try to get a higher floor or maybe one that isn't on the main street! All in all, it was a really nice stay and we would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Try to choose one higher up and off the main street so you don't get all the street noise.

A little dated, but comfortable. Room was a little small for 4 gals, but we made it work! Small bathroom, with shower only. Each floor is a memorial with an amazing view from the 12th floor restaurant. A complimentary buffet breakfast each morning that left you wanting nothing for hours! A complimentary happy hour each evening from 4 to 6 with a great piano player. Location is perfect to catch the trolly, find a great restaurant or shop. The Italian restaurant next door was excellent! Staff was friendly and accommodating. Little noisy around 5 am with trash bins in the alley beside us.

The Marines Memorial Hotel has been in business since 1946, immediately following WWII. It has provided its hotel rooms, conference rooms and dining facilities since then to many military and civilian personnel. While the building is in need of some overall updating, there are many attractions still to be found. The dining room near the top floor serves good and inexpensive food/drinks with a wonderful view of the city. You don't have to be a hotel guest to eat lunch or dinner.

Some of the hotel rooms are rather small and lacking a view while others are more spacious with a view. The higher the floor you are on the better the chances for a bigger room and a view. It is always advisable when booking to inquire about your options. As part of the facility, there are some areas that commemorate military history with pictures, metals, books, etc. It is a great place to explore either on a single visit or when staying as a guest.
