“Amazing suite!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2012

We've stayed at the Inn at the Opera before since we are Shell Vacation members, but this is the first time we've stayed in the deluxe 1 room suite (or "Opera" suite). Since we had our 2 small kids with us, it was PERFECT! It was basically a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom suite, but instead of a bed in 1 room, it was a sofabed. Wonderful for the kids.

Our 2 night, 3 day stay could have been so much longer since we had free continental breakfast every morning & a small fridge & microwave in our room with dishes & sink to help us with simple meals.

The room was clean & well appointed. Since it's an older building, they have space heaters to warm the building instead of central heating like a modern hotel. Not a bother though since it gives it a boutique feel. The bed mattresses were perfect. I usually have trouble sleeping the first night at most hotels but the first night at the Inn at the Opera, I fell asleep like I was in my own bed!

We were treated with smiles by each staff member we met. I felt valued. We will be back & we'll tell our friends.

I stayed at Inn at the Opera during Christmas week and it couldn't have been more pleasant. The hotel is charming, warm, and comfortable. The staff is friendly and efficient and the amenities make the hotel very homey. They serve a nice breakfast every morning and cookies in the afternoon. The rooms have a fridge and microwave and bathrobes, two luxuries that I really appreciate. The location is in a great neighborhood just steps from the ballet, symphony and opera.

Room Tip: There are a few really tiny rooms in the back. If you're assigned to one of them, ask about som...

We spent two nights at this hotel which is part of our timeshare. Both days we took cabs to go to our destinations. The front desk summoned cabs with amazing promptness. We were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a suite which was quite spacious for a room in San Francisco. The hotel was very quiet and nice. The furnishing and decorations were quite appropriate for the holiday season. The breakfast provided each morning in the downstairs restaurant had variety and the servers were very attentive to our needs. The only problem we encountered was the heating system was not operating properly. We had to use space heaters to take the chill off of the room. When we plugged both heaters in, we blew a circuit which after a call to the front desk was quickly fixed. I think our next visit there will be in warmer weather.

I am glad to hear that you had an overall enjoyable stay with us, and wanted to thank you and wish you the best for the New Year!. I am aware of the "hit or miss" baseboard heating system, and it is one of projects we are working on to fix this year.

We do hope to see you again in the future, and thank you again for your kind words.

If you love history and the genteel ways of the past, then you will certainly enjoy your stay at the Inn at the Opera. From the gentle creak of the wooden floors in the lobby to the small old-fashioned elevator, there's much to appreciate. Although, I would have preferred a slightly larger bed, our suite was spacious, as was the bathroom. The staff was both courteous and kind. One morning during our stay, I was not feeling well and the staff helped my fiancé get some breakfast together on a tray to bring to our room. Definitely will stay there again.

we spent 3 days there on our way to Lake Tahoe for a week. Rooms are small- even in the suites, but very comfortable and excellent service. Walking distance to everywhere- and close to transportation centers for everything else. Breakfast was better than expected.

We stayed at the Inn at the Opera a few days before Christmas to see The Nutcracker at the War Memorial Opera House. We could not have chosen a better location! If you are going to the Opera House, this is the place to stay.
There's a great restaurant downstairs (if more expensive than the room rates would imply), and complimentary continental breakfast there from 7-10 a.m. We stayed in the Ballet Room and I expected a small, cramped room, but they work with the 215 square feet very well. We were impressed with the kitchenette, which was fully stocked with silverware, glasses, plates and bowls. The room was very clean and quiet.
But the service was the aspect that made me give this inn an excellent rating. They were the most courteous hotel staff I have ever come across, saying welcome several times, being utterly respectful at all times when coming to the room, etc.
Overall, a great stay and we look forward to coming back!
