We stayed at two hotels for a total of 5 nights during our visit to San Francisco in March 2014. We stayed at the Four Season for 3 nights which is located in the heart of the shopping area on Market street. The hotel had a perfect location, good room size, and very helpful staff. We really enjoyed it and recommend it.

Room tip: Take the upper level room facing the Market street

Stayed here for 2 nights on business. I usually stay at the St Regis, but stayed here per client request. Overall, I probably still slightly prefer the St Regis, but Four Seasons is a close second

Pros:
* Awesome gym. You get access to LA Fitness which is a solid gym with plenty of equipment, basketball and indoor pool. Great perk.

* Great service and rooms. Everything was done promptly and quietly as expected by a Four Seasons. Housekeeping was invisible in a good way as my room was always cleaned and turn down service was magically done while I was briefly away in the evening. They give you water, nice mini bar, toiletries and clean room that hides any age in the room. Hotel was very quiet. Liked the Arnold Palmer self serve drink at registration.

* Great location. Super convenient and centrally located with lots of short cuts to key neighboring streets. Walking distance to Westfield mall - loved restaurant M.Y. China in mall.

* Solid breakfast restaurant. Ate their twice and great menu.

Cons:

* Need to take two elevator banks to get to hotel room.

* Wifi could have been faster. And was expensive.

I would stay again at The Four Seasons San Francisco without hesitation.

I was only there one night, but the staff was exceptional and I cannot remember the last time I had been in a Four Seasons Hotel and received such helpful service. I was honestly extremely surprised, in a great way!

From check-in at Valet, to check-in at the Concierge Desk, to Room Service, all staff members went beyond my expectations in friendliness, providing helpful information and I even received an upgrade to a higher floor.

So, why the "Very Good" rating?
The rooms were a tad small. And even though I was upgraded to a higher floor room, and I could see more of the city, the windows were quite dirty and I could hear the noise from the street.

However, as I said at the top, I would stay there again. Their excellent service left a wonderful lasting impression.

the hotel is perfectly positioned, 5 min to Union Square, close to all major shops, touristic attractions and the famous cable car as well.
Impeccably clean, sooo stylish! Great views, great windows!
The hotel bar serves one of the best californian red wines (try Emeritus, Russian Valley)
Restaurant has plenty of delicious breakfast options.

Room tip: I would recommend high floor rooms

From other reviews we were prepared to be underwhelmed but had a great stay at the hotel. Ok, it is not like some other Four Seasons, but our room was lovely, bathroom fine - though with a silly undersized bath (what is that??) without a hand shower (never understand that). The location is great. Lots of transport within walking distance - cable cars, Bart, The F line and all the shops you could wish for. The concierge Paige was excellent and dealt with restaurants and business requirements very well. The restaurant and breakfast (we had a credit included in our stay) at Market was really very good. Overall a great stay.
