“This hotel is expensive, but delivers top-notch ambiance and service in a fantastic downtown location.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2011

The hotel was in a great downtown location (on Market, 2 minutes from Westfield), right in the centre and close to all transport links for the city. The interior lobbies and lounges had a spacious, elegant feel, like stepping out of the bustle into order and calm.

We had an Executive Suite on the 17th floor for our 3-day stay, visiting relatives. It was a spacious area with stunning views across the city towards the Bay in the distance. Our two daughters had one room (with a double sofa bed) and we had the other adjoining room (with a king-size bed) which included the bathroom. The suite was well-appointed, extremely clean and (because of the enormous picture windows in both rooms) very light and airy. The bathroom was to die for. A nice touch was the bowl of fruit and the personalised ‘Welcome’ card from the hotel manager.

We didn’t eat in the hotel (other than a ‘room service’ breakfast, on one of the mornings) but we used the lounge for afternoon tea, pre-dinner drinks and late evening nightcaps. It was a very pleasant space in which to sit and relax, and the staff were extremely (but not annoyingly) attentive.

We used the Health Club on one occasion. It was very well-equipped (with a reasonable-sized pool) and on two floors. However, we felt it was more like a city fitness centre than a part of the hotel, so we didn’t feel sufficiently relaxed there – especially compared with all the other club members, who were taking it very seriously!

We were particularly impressed with the staff in the hotel. From the Chambermaid to the Concierge, every member of staff we encountered was polite, friendly and made us feel a welcome guest. Nothing appeared too much trouble and a call to Reception produced a knock on the door within five minutes.

We did feel that, given the cost of the accommodation, WiFi in the room could have been provided free of charge. We also felt that tea/coffee-making facilities could have been provided in the room. Yes, it was a simple matter to pick up the phone and order it from room service, but we would have preferred the flexibility and immediacy of doing it ourselves.

Although the hotel was expensive, we felt it represented good value for money because of the quality of the service and accommodation it provided.

This property was in a very central location, but at night very quite! Beautiful big rooms, had lunch in dining room, it was fabulous and they also have a very nice bar area that serves food. The main dining room is closed on Monday night. They have there wine list on Ipad, which is ingenious. They are connected to a fitness club, which you can use, it is amazing. I had a deep tissue massage while I was there, and it was one of the best I have had. They even off Thai massage which I love but need the deep tissue.

My wife and I had a very pleasurable short stay at the four seasons. Everything you'ld expect at a four seasons. Highlights included a very comfortable room, super helpful concierge, and a very tasty breakfast.

I absolutely adore this hotel. Everything from the bar and restaurant, to the rooms, to the service is fantastic. I have stayed at many other hotels in SFO and this is the best, hands down.

We've been staying here every time we come to San Francisco for about 10 years now, once or twice a year to visit friends. We've stayed at almost every other hotel in S.F., but there is no comparison to the Four Seasons. I relax as soon as I enter the modern, elegant lobby. The front desk, bellmen and housekeeping are always extremely helpful. Our beautiful corner room wasn't ready when we checked in, so we had lunch in Seasons Restaurant, delicious! And you get a glimpse of moneyed San Franciscans enjoying their lunch too. Always spotless, always comfortable, we won't stay anywhere else in S.F.!

I stayed here with a family member who went to San Francisco for a business trip. I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. We had booked a regular room, but somehow got upgraded to a "corner room", which I'm not sure if it was still a regular room or a suite, but it was fantastic...large, lots of closet space, big windows looking onto the city, luxurious bathroom, and all the luxuries you'd expect from a Four Seasons. The hotel is in a great location, close to all the great shopping. I got in late at night so I ordered room service which of course was outrageously expensive (a turkey sandwich and slice of chocolate cake somehow came out to almost $50), but very good. The only thing I wasn't impressed with was the lobby, it was a little plain, with one tiny gift shop. Other than that, the hotel was five star.
