“Simply awesome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2013

Hard to top this place. I travel regularly for business to SF and there is no hotel equal to this (this includes my stay at the much more upscale and expensive Mandarin Oriental).

For starters, the location is ideal for business travelers (it's in the financial district) and vacationers (stayed with the family here). It's just a few steps away from Chinatown and the cable car stops right outside the hotel.

The hotel is stately but warm. The rooms comfortable, well-appointed, reasonably spacious, updated and clean.

What makes this hotel is the service. I have double digit stays here and am still awaiting my first unsatisfactory service experience. To the contrary, I am consistently wowed by the excellent service. Everyone from the doormen to the front desk personnel to the concierge to the cleaning personnel are genuinely friendly. It renews my faith that good customer service and well-run businesses are not dead!

I even had one trip where the people in the room next to me clearly had too much to drink and were quite loud at midnight during the week. Noise levels are usually excellent here, so I had to call down and ask them to stop by the neighboring room and ask them to quiet down. That was done in minutes. To top it off, the hotel sent me a personal note the following week apologizing. Apologizing for events outside the hotel's control stands in contrast to many hotels that seem irritated to fix things within their control.

Stay here. You won't regret it.

Lovely hotel, room was very nice, well-equipped and the staff most helpful. The location is fantastic too. Only down-side for us was that our request for an upper floor could not be met and we were 2 floors up from the trams running right outside. We are not overly sensitive but the noise level was incredible, waking up to the screech of the tramlines was not pleasant.

Room Tip: Higher floor is a must!

This was our first visit to the Omni and we were very happy with our choice to stay at this hotel. The location is excellent: walking distance to the Ferry Building, Chinatown and North Shore. The hotel is on the California cable car line, but do be aware that the cable cars are so full it is very, very difficult to get a ride. We saw many, many people being refused rides on several cars in a row - definitely frustrating. (But, of course, not the hotels fault. Just an observation for others visiting the city.) Our rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. The hotel staff excellent, all very courteous and helpful. We would definitely stay at this hotel again!

First visit to San Francisco and ditto for this hotel chain and neither disappointed. This was a 4 night wedding anniversary break, yep a long way to go for such a short stay, but well worth it. This hotel certainly has the wow factor with its marble reception and chandeliers. The staff couldn't have been more friendly or efficient, and we were quickly checked in and directed to our room on the fourth floor. Our room had everything you'd expect from a hotel of this standing and couldn't be faulted for cleanliness, space or the king size bed which was so very comfortable and one you could easily get lost in. Plenty of storage and hanging space in the cupboard which also contained an easy to use security safe. The bathroom was a great size with a good shower and all the usual complimentary shower gel/creams etc. There was a decent magnifying mirror and hairdryer .. which, in my opinion, are musts when you are away from home.

This hotel has a great location and walking distance of the Ferry Building, China Town and the Italian District. Its situated near the bottom of California Street which is served by the cable cars ... you can buy a day ticket for 14 dollars which entitles you to unlimited rides on the cars and can be used on any of the light railway and busses ... just show the ticket to the driver as you get on. For longer stays you can buy 3 or 7 day passes which are exceptionally cheap. Visiting Alcatraz then book online, we did before we left the UK as its almost impossible to get a ticket at short notice and this is a trip you MUST NOT MISS. Comfortable shoes are essential as the surfaces are a bit uneven .. a fascinating visit ... as I'm sure you will find out! I'd recommend you try the big bus tour as its a fantastic way to see the city .. you just hop on or off at any of the scheduled stops. The bus takes you across the Golden Gate Bridge .. and there's the opportunity to walk back and re-join the tour ... well worth the effort.

In conclusion we would definitely recommend the OMNI Hotel to anyone travelling to San Francisco ... you will not be disappointed.

I can't decide if the best reason to stay at the Omni is because of its great location for business travelers or because of its extremely courteous, helpful staff. If you're looking for either in the San Francisco area, I'd recommend the Omni San Francisco.

I was traveling for business, and the hotel was within walking distance from clients and also great restaurants. Moreover, it has lots of San Francisco charm with the trolley running right in front of the property.

The room was comfortable and modern with a luxurious marble bathroom. The view left a lot to be desired, though. My room overlooked a courtyard/large air shaft that had views into neighboring offices. The lobby itself is elegant, if not somewhat opulent. The workout space is well-designed, though it gets very busy in the mornings.

I needed help from the front desk on with several things from faxing to getting new room keys and fixing a discrepancy on my folio, and they were extremely warm and very willing to help.

We booked this hotel based on trip advisor reviews and were not disappointed. This is our first trip to San Francisco so we can't compare it to other hotels. But right from the check-in, we were impressed by the great level of service. As stated by other reviewers, do join the loyalty program before you check -in, entitles you to free wi-fi and also hot beverage delivered to your room for free every morning. Other perks are free bottled water on the day of check-in. All in all, we would recommend this hotel - location, service, all good. We were on the top floor 17th, although only booked a standard room, I think this might have been a free upgrade. No problems with noise level, even with windows open!

If you know Omni Hotels, you know to expect classic elegance and good service, and the San Francisco property certainly lives up to the brand. Well maintained, friendly staff, great service from Lex the concierge in securing reservations at several SF foodie destinations.

What most non-locals don't realize is the advantage of the Financial District for a weekend away. Rates go down when the business people head home to Marin or the East Bay and it's actually possible to SLEEP without the 3 a.m. clatter of bottles being picked up by the city garbage service. But... You're still next door to Chinatown, 1 mile from North Beach, 4-6 blocks from Union Square, and there are good bars (e.g. Bix and Bubble Lounge) within easy walking distance as well as fab restaurants like Quince and its casual sister restaurant.

Lots of little details... The maid Wanda left a nice welcome note and covered my bedside beverage with a doily.

Our room, 1402, didn't have a view but it also didn't have a neighboring building peering into our rooms. 1402 is at the end of the hall... Never heard a soul. Parking is $35 but we recently had the rude shock of a $60 charge at another hotel; it's the going rate.

Room Tip: 1402 is at the end of the hall if you like a quiet room, felt very private
