“Great Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013

I arrived in San Francisco exhausted from a week of traveling. When i checked into the Omni, I told Meg at the front desk that all I needed was a good night's sleep. She put me in a room on one of the upper floors away from the street noise. My room was lovely, beautifully appointed and clean. I had the best night's sleep of my entire two-week trip. The next morning, because I am an Omni Guest Select member, complimentary coffee and the New York Times were delivered to my room. I was given a late check-out to accommodate my schedule, and everyone from the bell men to housekeeping attendants were polite and gracious. Even though the Omni is not as convenient for shopping in Union Square, I will stay there next time.

Room Tip: Higher floors have less noise. Some rooms are small but still lovely.

This is one of the few hotels where from the doorman to the desk to the maids to the concierge there was uniform friendliness without the stuffy and effete side effects of very upscale competitors.
The location is pretty central to a lot of SF and particularly the antique centers. Our room was specially chosen at my request by Debora Tjandra and everyone else seemed to follow suit. I particularly appreciated the concierge service tendered with wit and style. Our room looked right over the TransAmerica bldg.
I do have to mention here that having nothing to do with this fine hotel, Omni's Select Guest program DOUBLED requirements for free nights without warning while I was staying in one!

Room Tip: As I stated above, try to face the pyramid.

The Omni San Francisco is not fancy and may not have all the latest bells and whistles, but it is an excellent hotel, very elegant, with all expected amenities and a great staff that provides outstanding service, in an excellent location. This hotel has been my choice for my last four visits to San Francisco and I do not have one single complaint.

Great service. But watch the doormen if you're going to the airport. They'll try to sell you on procuring a "house car" for transport at a rate of $60 + tip. Figure you give $10 tip, you're in for $70. A cab will only cost $45 - $50 + tip. Figure a $5 tip, you're in for only $55. So don't let those fast talkers try to snow ya.

The bar is nice, but they have a problem with small flies buzzing all over the place. It's kind of disgusting. I was trying to watch a game and felt physically ill in their presence.

The exercise room is average. Below average views. Limited choices for machines. It's nicely stocked with towels. It's very clean.

They need to do a better job with their "house cars". They claim to be first come first serve. But you have to go downstairs and wait around for one to show up. It's kind of awkward. If you're old and dress in nice clothing you'll be treated nicer than if you're young or if you have long hair or if you dress modestly.

The hotel staff offers good service, but they are uppity and in your biz. Expect to be greeted and spoken to at all times. Be prepared to discuss inane topics like weather and restaurants.

From the moment we arrived, the hotel was above our expectations! The desk staff were WONDERFUL! Meg greeted us warmly and allowed us to check in early. She was helpful with directions and suggestions. The doorman chatted with my daughter about Switzerland when he saw a Swiss patch on her favorite travel bag. Our room (1026) was roomy and CLEAN! Everyday, there was hot apple cider in the lobby :) This special drink was our favorite treat every afternoon when we returned from exploring this beautiful city. I cannot over state the friendly staff. I have never stay at any hotel where every member of the staff greeted us coming and going. Best hotel stay ever!
The street noise was a little loud even on the tenth floor. Restaurant choices are limited on Sundays.

Room Tip: The cable car on California street can be a little noisy. You may want a room on Montgomery Street.

This is possibly the best luxury hotel experience i have had in the past five years ...I have stayed at all of the high end brands ..Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton, W, etc (and they are all fine)...but somehow have missed the Omni Hotel in San Fran. What a glorious stay!...the front desk, the concierge, the doorman and the room service people were all wonderful. helpful & courteous...topped off by a most comfortable ride to the airport in their on-call Suburban (at a price only a little higher than a public taxi.) And the public space was old world magnificent...i will definitely search out Omni's wherever my next trip is.

Tis hotel was simply ideal. It was 5 star luxury and treats for 3.5 star price.

From the warm apple cider when you come into the lobby from the cold winder outside, to the complementary tea, coffee and fresh apples brought you your room each morning, this place has all the touches that made it feel like a delight.

Right on the cable car, just a brief walk to china town, another brief walk to union square and the huge Mall with Bloomingdales, this place really could not have been better.

I can't imagine staying anywhere else in SF from now on...

Room Tip: Worth the extra $20 to have a quiet room on he upper three floors, away from the traffic, fire engin...
