“disconcerting”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2012

we got a room here for the weekend to celebrate my friend's 50th birthday. for the most part, it was a great central location! however, saturday night, upon arriving back (just three adults) in the wee hours of the morning, we got a knock on the door immediately telling us we were not allowed to talk in our room this late, we needed to 'chat in the lobby'. we were not being loud, we didn't have the music on and we didn't have the TV on. normal conversation. not 20 minutes later, again, they knocked on our door telling us we couldn't be talking in our rooms at this hour. for $200 a night, i will do whatever i damn well please when it is normal talking level, and nothing like teenagers whoop it up with hooting and hollering. i have never been in a hotel where i was told we were not allowed to chat in our room at 3am because it was too loud? we are in an area paying GOOD money, i wouldn't stay there again if our lives depended on it. that was just disrespectful and rude.

then lets add the next morning when someone tried to barge in at 9am (after going to bed late!), something about the minibar?? (never touched it) then we asked for a late check out with 2 more attempts at housekeeping to get in (even with the privacy sign). couldn't sleep because all i could hear was housekeeping knocking on other's doors and the slamming of the doors constantly.

“Fanastic Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2012

First time in San Francisco. Booked this hotel literally the day before arrival and got a great rate through hotels.com.

Front desk and concierge service was exceptional - staff was very helpful with directions around the city and recommendations for restaurants. Everyone was very friendly and seemed to genuinely want to help you. Room was very well kept and had a large bathroom. Only negative was no refrigerator, but on the plus side they do have free morning coffee and leave out fresh fruit and cold tea during the afternoon.

Location is great-- very easy walk to Chinatown and just a slightly longer, but still easy, walk to the Ferry Building and Union Square. Valet parking is pricey but not out of line with other SF hotels and there are lots in the immediate area where you can save a little bit. Close to BART if, like me, you prefer public transporation whenever possible.

Highly recommended.

“Wonderful Business/Birthday Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2012

I selected the Omni San Francisco for my most recent stay in San Francisco and was not disappointed. Many of the positives have already been mentioned earlier in reviews. What made this stay wonderful was the fact that the Ms. Tjandra commemorated my stay with a surprise birthday bottle of wine, two slices of chocolate birthday cake, and a nice card congratulating me on my special celebration. This is definitely something that made the stay a most memorable one and one that is not common when staying at large hotels within the US. Thank you, Ms. Tjandra.

As already mentioned by others, the room is quite traditional but very nicely decorated. The bathroom was quite large and the bed was a very restful experience. I love the fact that coffee and a second beverage is provided each morning for up to two individuals staying in the same room.

What makes this hotel stand out is the staff. What a wonderful and warm team! Even a couple of the frontline people remembered me and addressed me by my family name. This is definitely a great touch.

The only thing that could have been improved upon was the dusting. Since I have allergies, I'm quite sensitive to dust. The phones in the room had dust which means they are not dusted on a regular basis. If the housekeeping staff could pay more attention to the dusting, this would have been most ideal for someone like myself.

Thank you for a wonderful stay, Omni San Francisco! I'll definitely be staying with you again in the future.

Room Tip: The Signature Room is a great option since you have accommodations on one of the top three floors wi...

“San Francisco elegance”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012

My wife and I live in the Bay Area, but we occasionally stay overnight in the city after a night on the town. We tried the Omni this time, and we weren't disappointed. The lobby and the room had an old-school elegant feel without being dated or run down... lots of dark wood and marble everywhere. We used the pre-arrival check-in, so our key was waiting on a rack when we arrived. However, we still felt welcomed as the doormen greeted us and another staff member gave us gingerbread cookies on our way to the elevator. After dropping off our bag, we had drinks in the bar. These were fine, but very expensive.
The Omni is in the middle of financial district, which is not as convenient as Union Square or SoMa if you want to be close to shopping and nightlife, but still close enough to walk to those areas.
Check-out was as quick as arrival. As with most big hotels, the bill was under the door in the morning, so we just had to drop off our key. Still, one of the bellmen in the lobby noticed us at the key box and made a point of saying goodbye. All in all, a first-rate hotel experience.

Room Tip: 11th floor room had a view of the city but no famous landmarks.
