“wonderful stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2013

50th Birthday long weekend with my sister ( the birthday girl ) and my niece. booked on line combined with flight. Arrived at about noon and was greeted by a wonderful man at the front desk. He gave us a great room, beds where so comfy, room was clean and big and we had very nice robes in the closets. Hotel a 20 minute walk to Fisherman's wharf 25 minutes to Pier39. Front desk was very helpful with arranging tickets to Alcatraz and the hop on hop off tours. We kept the do not disturb sign up so we did not have house keeping. Breakfast was ok. The pool was very clean and warm. The night before we left we asked the front desk if we could get a few pears as we were catching a very early flight home and would not be there for Breakfast. 20 minutes late there was someone at our door with a plate of fresh fruit, from pears, banana's, peaches and oranges. Awesome stay, Awesome room and great staff. Would book here again in a heart beat.

Flew to San Francisco to do some filming at Napa Valley. The first hotel I stayed at had a number of problems. When I arrived, I showed up early, and my room was still being cleaned. Jeff at the front desk was GREAT in getting me in ASAP. When I went to my room, it was clean and comfortable, and the view was SUPER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you da Vinci Villa for putting my trip back on track!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: Rooms 526 & 527 has the best views.

While the pricing is affordable, the neighborhood safe and the property clean, don't believe a word of what they say on the website. This is by no means a luxury hotel. It is a converted low end motel that has nice bedding (and that is about it). The rooms were dark. The overhead lights were dim and poorly placed. The furniture (outside of the mattress and linen) were old and looked like it came from a second hand store. The tables next to the bed were too large for a bed side table which made getting in/out of bed ackward. The desk was no where near an outlet so using a computer was difficult. The "restaurant" was only open in the morning, serving a free continental breakfast. Good thing it was free--the breads were stale, the dishes dirty, and service non-existent. The front desk will call a cab for you but don't be surprised if you have to wait for 30 minutes. There are no bellmen or concierge. The noise level overnight -- from what I found out at check out -- was from college students who live in the hotel. Now what luxury hotel has college students as residents. Nothing about this hotel was luxury. More like a Super 8. Unless you are really looking for inexpensive lodging in the Russian Hill area specifically -- don't stay here.

Very apprehensive when I booked da Vinci Villa for my stay in San Francisco. I usually stay in the Fishermans wharf area with my family of 4.The reviews on yelp and trip advisor weren't so flattering but I reluctantly gave it a try based on price. Checked in around 8pm on Tuesday after a long day at the SF zoo.Front desk clerk was very hospitable and lobby was clean.Off to a good start. Went to the room next and was impressed .Room was spacious and clean for a boutique hotel converted from an apartment complex. After unpacking went back to front desk clerk for recommendatios in the neighborhood. Took a short walk a block away to great"froyo" shop .Was impressed that the hotel was located in a great neighborhood full of local shops and restaurants on Polk and Van Ness .I felt my family was safe and comfortable in this local area and not in a touristy area.Beds were soft and got a good nights sleep.Woke up and went to work out at there gym which was adequate then took the kids to the free continental breakfest which was more than anticipated (belgian waffles).Housekeeping was friendly as well as front desk was exceptional.I would highly recommend this hotel to others as great location, great neighborhood, great staff, and great value.

Had a great stay. Fabulous room and brilliant location. Housekeeping staff amazing, especially Tam Mai the Exec Housekeeper that did whatever possible to return an item to me back in Australia that I had left behind in my room. Thanks so much! Would definitely stay here again.

Met by very helpful staff member with good advise on what hop on hop off bus service to use.
Hotel very clean and presentable with nice sized room. Every thing my wife and I needed. A nice 20 minute walk to Fishermans Wharf means that you can be there early to beat the crowds for the buses, cruises etc. Also passes the cable car so you can get on the first runs and avoid long waits.

Room Tip: At teh rear away from the main road.
