“Did the trick”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

Overall I was fairly impressed with the hotel. Got a good deal on priceline paying 119 for a room normally 179 which might sway my opinion a little bit. Walking distance to many places (Fishermans Warf, Chinatown, etc) which was great. Good Gym and even a little Sauna and room was very clean and comfortable.

Continental Breakfast okay- basically bagels/toast with some fruit salad. Could have used some fresh fruit. Agree with concern about elevator/entrance to hotel- anyone of the street could walk into here so hotel staff may want to look into this (not that I felt unsafe in the neighbourhood at any minute). If you are looking for a place to eat from here- Aux Delices on Polk Street is a VERY short walk and was great.

Was going to book as I saw the website and was faciniated by it. Saw a lower rate but when I called in to request for a Sunday stay I was put on hold for 5 min. Let the agent know that I saw a lower rate and after having me on hold said to just book it on line. I understand why as it was an advance pay. But she should've got on line and explained it to me. Didn't ask why I was coming or have you ever stayed here before. Very poor reservationist, not welcoming at all.

The room was very clean and nice, and the service was excellent. The negatives - it's sort of motel style with an outdoor walkway to the rooms, which is ok, but as far as I'm concerned definitely not boutique. The elevator to access the rooms had no security. Anyone could walk off the street and get to the hotel room doors. My last and biggest complaint is that the room had poor sound insulation. There was a group staying across the adjoining door from me, and I could hear everything they said. The second night there was some kind of party nearby which was very loud. Overall, I think the quality of the room was good enough that it was an ok value, but as a female traveling solo for business, it wasn't a great match.

We spent 3 nights at the da Vinci over the Veterans Day weekend. The hotel was clean with plenty of room in the room. We requested a refrigerator and it was provided one immediately. The staff went out of their way to help us. The hotel is conveniently located near the bus lines for a quick trip to the popular sites. We had some problems with our non-refundable reservations (the service that made the reservation had doubled booked due to a computer error), but the management was very gracious and handled the problem swiftly. The neighborhood was safe and the two of us--older women--had no hesitation walking to local restaurants or to the bus stop. It was too cold to use the pool, but it looked very inviting.

It's definitely not what I would have expected of a hotel in this price range, and that hangs mostly on the facilities. Service was great, no complaints there. But the room was rather small, though it had a nice view of the Golden Gate Bridge. The shower was terrible. It was quite far away from most attractions. It might be nice for families though, because it has a nice pool and it is close to Fisherman's Warf. The elevator was very old and slow, which cost us a lot of time.

Stayed here as the first hotel in a 3 week Californian road trip. Must admit was quite disappointed with the room on first impressions , very basic , however it was very clean, comfy bed, great pool friendly staff and the place grew on me over the 3 day stay. A bit out of the way but all in all a good place to stay. Breakfast is fine as long as you like bagels and bread :-)

We stayed 3 nights at Da Vinci Villa. It is an older building with a very slow lift, which was out of action when we arrived, but the rooms are comfortable, clean and adequate. Not much in the rooms but when we requested wine glasses and a corkscrew they were delivered to our room promptly. Ceiling fan and noisy aircon but we survived by cooling the room down during the day and all was good.
It is good value for money, continental breakfast is included but the staff do get over run during the busy period in the morning and you may have to ask for basic things.
Ten minute walk to Fishermans wharf or a $5 taxi fare. Buses run past the Villa but we did not use these.
We used the restaurant at night and it was good value, no complaints.
