We decided to stay here, after a recommendation. We choose this place after seeing all the positive comments, and the awards this property received.
Upon arrival, David the doorman greeted us. Asked about our visit. After learning we were tourists. Gave us some very useful info about the city and what to do.
Check in was fast and the staff was professional. We arrived at our room. It was bright and inviting. The bathroom was bigger than most hotel bathrooms. We had problems opening / programing the safe. I called down to the Front desk. They promptly sent a maintenance man up. And solved the problem.
We looked at the menus for the restaurant. Pretty limited variety. We also looked at the breakfast door hanger menu. Very expensive! Full Breakfast for two Would be about $60! After the delivery charge, tax, and auto grat of 20%. We ate off property at one of the many restaurants near by.
First night's sleep, was bad. The bed looks comfy, but it isn't. After the second night, We ended up going to Walgreens and buying Advil, because of the aches.
In room coffee maker, makes a half of a cup at a time. The mini bar is well stocked, but pricey.
The TV was an old school big box. There was no TV schedule.
Check out was a breeze! There was two Front Desk staff members working at 5:30 a.m. They asked if we needed transportation? We told them we had scheduled a shuttle to pick us up at 5:45 a.m. One of the Front Desk member's went outside to wait for the shuttle. Upon arrival, he alerted us. He thanked us for our visit to the Hotel.
The location of the Orchard Hotel is Fabulous! It is close to China town, Union square, trolley and cable cars, and the many Restaurants.
Bottom line: Average Hotel, Great Location, Great Staff!
