“Excellent Choice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2005

This hotel was in a great location. It had a modern, new feel and was extremely clean. The actual rooms were also clean and rather spacious. The maids did an excellent job.

The room came with free broadband internet which is rare in a lot of U.S hotels. The rooms were quiet, we didn't get disturbed once. Very comfortable beds which must have been fairly new. The En-suite was also clean and had a very good shower (most important thing in the morning!)

The maids always said hello with a smile as did the front desk staff which made the whole stay so much nicer.

The breakfast was a suprise for us as we didn't realise it came included. There was a huge selection to choose from. Donuts, cereals, choice of breads, croissants, muffins, boiled eggs, warm cinnamon pastries, fruit and juice. It was all fresh and regularly filled up. It was a real added bonus.

All in all the whole stay was brilliant and I would not hesistate to recommend this excellent hotel to anyone.

Wife and I stayed 9/24/05, Clean, comfortable and within walking distance to wharf, cable cars and many local attractions. Very nice room, bed and free breakfeast that was better than other expresses we have stayed at. Staff was very helpful with directions and local ideas. Parking was expensive but very convenient. Got an early checkin time and a free upgrade!! I must be living right. Got a great price thru internet HI site. Would strongley recommend this hotel to anyone.

My wife and I spent 4 nights here while visiting San Francisco. I had read the reviews before we made our reservations. This is a very clean and much newer place than the other Holiday Inn down the street. The location is excellent with an easy walk to anything including cable cars and restaurants. The room was very nice and quiet. The complimentary breakfast was great and very filling. I would highly recommend this to anyone traveling to San Francisco and wanting to stay in a hotel near Fisherman's Wharf. Note --- read restaurant reviews before you try something new as we had a poor experience at one restaurant in the North Beach District. This may have been a fluke but who knows --- read on --- My wife and I visited San Francisco week of 9/12/05 and had a wonderful time. We decided to eat at Figaro's for dinner. This decision was based on nothing more than trying something new. We expected a decent and filling meal and ended up with the complete opposite. The restaurant did not have many patrons as the neighboring restaurants - that should have been our first indication - We ordered and while the service was ok - not many patrons to serve - the food was the absolute worse food I have ever had at an Italian restaurant. The bread basket was made up of dried bread on a used napkin (probably the same basket from another table). I ordered chicken parmisan. The chicken was one small piece that tasted like a dried out side of anything other than chicken and the pasta/sauce was cold. My wife's dinner wasn't any better. $40 later and very dissapointed. Ended up walking around to Fisherman's Wharf and stopped for a quick McDonald's. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone.

This hotel was an excellent choice. The rooms were very clean and well kept, and cozy. It's very near to shopping and attractions. Staff were very friendly and the included continental breakfast was very good! I would definately stay here again!

Stayed at this hotel for four nights 1st-4th September and it was OK!

Great location just around the corner from all attractions the pier 39, the boats to Alcatraz all the resturants etc. The hotel was comfortable but not that nice, a bit grey and dismal looking no bar or resturant however the included breakfast was very good, slightly a bit of a free for all but very nice pastries and croissants etc.

Not much elce to stay about the hotel really but it was clean and tidy and a great base for going around San Francisco.

I hope this has been helpful but if you would like anymore info then plean email me ... carina.gordon@ntlworld.com.

Great location within easy walking distace to cable car and pier 39.Dark rooms with grey wallpaper no view at all looking out onto an inner void of other rooms. Free breakfast was a free for all with everything running out quickly no matter what time you went. Hotel parking is very pricey at $30 per night but better than nearby car parks.

We stayed here for the first 2 nights of a 12 day vacation from San Francisco to LA. The location is excellent. We could walk to the cable cars, the wharf, Ghiradelli Square, Lombard St........pretty much anything we wanted to.

Our room was on the inside of the hotel....we looked out to a "courtyard". No street noise, but it would have been nice to have the room with a view of Alcatraz!
The shower was awesome. Nice bathroom, towels, lots of room.
When we first got to our room, I asked a housekeeper for additional pillows and a blanket. He had it to us in less than 10 minutes! Many places we've stayed at take forever to get you these items, if they even have them.
The only thing I would recommend here is new beds. They were small (full)....queens would be much nicer, and they were not very firm.

Breakfast was included each morning which had been a deciding factor for us. One less meal to pay for in a pretty expensive town! It was very good, with lots of choices including hard boiled eggs, cereals, cinnamon rolls, etc.... Lobby and breakfast room was always full, but the staff kept up with refills and were very friendly. Such a treat to have a smiling face in the morning!!

It was fun to be in the midst of so many other travelers each morning. In fact, we met up with someone from our hometown who just raved about the hotel also!

Front desk staff was very helpful with questions and directions. No problems with checking in or out. We inquired about an upgrade to a suite and were told that none were available, but she quickly offered to supply us with a refrigerator or cot if needed.

On another note, we would highly recommend the night tour of Alcatraz. It was awesome! Make sure to bring a warm jacket and if you go on the earlier of the 2 tours (6:20), you are allowed to stay later and take the last ferry back, giving you more time to take in the "extras" that are offered with only the night tours.

Would stay again.....especially if they upgraded the beds!!
