“Nice economical hotel in excellent location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

I’m glad I chose this property for my 24-hour visit to the Fisherman's Wharf area. Everything I wanted to see was an easy walk or short bus/taxi ride away. The hotel is right across from a Hyatt, one block from the Marriott, and is adjacent to a regular Holiday Inn but Holiday Express is more budget friendly. The lobby/reception area is modern and the large breakfast area has plenty of seating. A few smaller tour groups seemed to be staying there, but most guests appeared to be independent travelers. Walgreens, CVS and Safeway stores are conveniently nearby. For a delicious dinner, walk across the street and visit the Hyatt’s “Brick & Beam” restaurant. And for casual affordable meals throughout the day Denny’s restaurant is just around the corner from the hotel entrance.
Computers for guest use are near the lobby, handy for airline boarding passes and paying the FastTrak toll for crossing the Golden Gate Bridge southbound (you need to do this within 48 hours of the automated machines reading your license plate). The computers are in the lounge/breakfast area, so watch your surroundings while doing credit card transactions.
My room was clean, contemporary and quiet. The king bed was pleasantly comfortable and the feather pillows were good: 2 labeled soft and 2 labeled firm. This standard room had plenty of space for two people. The work desk, side chair and table and TV console were good for organizing travel items. Room windows in my section of the hotel had no views except looking down to the lobby roof. I didn't expect a view since I paid the lowest rate for a room. The work desk has outlets for charging electronics. The bathroom was clean with modern basics. There is a safe in the closet along with enough clothes hangers for a short stay.
Reception was prompt and was able to accommodate my early arrival. I valet parked my rental car with the hotel. The charge is $45 per night (plus $6 tax) and I noticed at other area hotels that this rate is within the apparent range of $40-$50.
Overall this hotel was a nice surprise. It was economical by Fisherman's Wharf standards and provides a convenient base for visiting the North Beach/Wharf/Golden Gate Bridge area. I would stay here again.

rooms are very small but clean and comfortable. there is no bar at the hotel but plenty of nightlife nearby. excellent location for pier 39 fishermans wharf and Ghirardelli square. also can set up bus or boat or any kind of tours you want to do in san Francisco. price by the city standards was very reasonable.

Myself and my boyfriend stayed here during the end September/beginning October for 5 nights as part of a West Coast of America Tour and were not dissapointed. It was part of a Virgin holidays package and we were recommended it because of its location which does not dissapoint. Such a great location in the heart of Fishermans Wharf, just minutes walk from the famous Pier 39, Sealions and a few minutes along is the docking station for Alcatraz.

The concierge at the hotel is fantastic and helped us book the Big Bus Tour (would thoroughly recommend to see the city) and gave us discount vouchers for many bars and restaurants which were really good. The local restaurants have some of the best seafood I have ever eaten!

Some tips - the breakfast here is free and good but does get very busy at about 9am as it finishes at 9:30am so if you want it nice and empty you have to get up early!

Do not bring a car unless you are used to driving in San Francisco and are willing to pay the car parking charges - valet parking is $54 a night and is the same accross the board in San Fran and the road parking will add up and you will have to keep moving it. Use coach trips for things like the Napa Valley and Outlet centres! Everything else that you need is in San Fran!

Do not eat at the Denny's at the Holiday Inn either! Not nice food, very dark and dingey restaurant and bored staff. Eat at the IHop instead down the road!

I had stayed at the Holiday Inn in SF before, so was quite happy when the travel agent suggested we stay here on this trip. I guess I should have considered our circumstances more closely as last time I was single , traveling with a friend, so the small room was ok. This time, as a family, the room was pretty tight - and we had booked a suite. Despite being a non smoking floor, the room frequently smelt strongly of cigarette smoke.

I was impressed by the concierge service, and the breakfast service was always well stocked with a good variety of food.

I think I'd look for alternative options should we return to SF.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the outer wings, as the inner rooms look out over a miserable courtyard.

We spent 4 nights at this hotel. I had spent hours and hours trying to find a good hotel at a good price. After reading the reviews I decided to not go with a boutique hotel but decided to listen to the Trip Advisor reviews. I AM SO GLAD I DID. There are so many Hotels in very undesirable areas in San Francisco. In my opinion you should first decide to stay on the Warf. This decision made transportation, food and excursions easy. The location was SAFE and there was a Safeway just down the street. The room was very small for the price, but it was clean, updated and the entire property was in good conditions. Bed was comfortable and the linens were good quality. Towels were a little thin. Heater and air conditioner worked great! Breakfast was good. Lots of choices, however it would have been nice if the eggs and breakfast meats had been a little warmer. The staff was WONDERFUL!!
Suggestion, it would be nice if there was a microwave downstairs for guests to use.

We stayed here for three nights with our family of six! It was nice to be able to stay in one room, and have a free breakfast for our four boys. We loved how close it was to all the destinations we wanted to go to. We didn't have to rent a car, and could walk/take a cable car to anywhere in the city. A bit expensive, but worth it!
