“It was vegan??”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2013

We had other plans for the evening, but due to a power outage we found ourselves seeking food elsewhere. We stumbled on Gracias Madre, put our name down and hung out with a tasty drink for a bit. The (surprisingly) vegan food was definitely delicious - instead of mimicking non-vegan foods, the chef chooses to reinvent dishes her own way, and they were fantastic.

“Authentic Mexican with a twist”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013

First time trying a vegan mexican restaurant and you cannot tell it's vegan! Everything is made fresh daily. If you have tried authentic Mexican before, you will know that it is on the more bland side than the Americanize Mexican food is. Get reservations if you want to have dinner here! Excellent food but a little pricey.

“What a find!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013

Vegan Mexican Food!!!! Who would have thought it???? Loved this place. Funky in the Mission....went for lunch. Sat at the bar because all the tables were taken. Everything was fresh and delicious...had the fresh ginger ale...I've never tasted anything like that!!! Loved it all around. And it's reasonable too!!!!

“Great Vegan Restaurant Serving Healthy Mexican Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013

Especially enjoyed the creative and quite tasty vegan appetizers. Loved the piping hot thick organic homemade corn tortillas with guacamole and the butternut squash quesadillas. Appreciated all the vegetable choices for tacos. Black beans were the best ever tasted and I highly recommend the apple and pear cobbler with vegan ice cream as the very thin crust was to die for. Enjoyed the communal tables and local art filled atmosphere. Always enjoy walking in the lively cultural mix of the Mission District. Considering the food is organic, fresh, along with creative vegan cooking I thought our meal was of good value.

“Disappointed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013 via mobile

After reading reviews was excited to check this place out. What we got was an over priced mexican veggie place in a poor area. I guess it was good for those that want fusion -- but for those that want authentic and more flavour - i would say skip it. Service sucked!
