“overwhelmed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2012

Smallish place rather lacking in decor. The food was excellent, but the management was poor. We had made reservations and arrived on time, but were not seated for another hour and fifteen minutes. While waiting at the bar, we met two regulars who had given up their table in exchange for free port. They had obviously overbooked, couldn't keep up, and the "manager" was pretty clueless. When we finally got our food, it was delicious.

Dear Mileskishnish

Sorry to hear that you don't enjoy your experience here at Seven Hills. I do also apologise about the wait. The only day i can recall there being such a long wait was the Sunday before labor day and that was due to the Bay bridge closure. We are a tiny restaurant and when all the earlier guests run late it unfortunately has a domino affect. It was not my intention to keep you or any other guest waiting. I am not sure if you will be traveling back to SF soon, but if you do I hope that you give Seven Hills another chance and we can exceed your expectations.
I sincerely appreciate the review though

“Fresh, delicious Italian food in cozy setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2012

As others have said, the restaurant is small and quite cozy. It seemed like it could fit up to 50-60 people. It was certainly charming and invoked a feeling of coziness and perfect for a romantic dinner or a small group of friends.
We ordered the salt seared Monterey Bay calamari with eggplant copanata. It was delicate, delicious and fresh! Don't expect this to be fried, it's not.
For our entrees, our fabulous waiter, Reggie was very knowledgeable of the menu and guided us to some great choices. We ordered the classic fettucine carbonara and the Corvina Bass. We were not disappointed. The fish was excellent! Tender, flaky and well prepared. My husband loved his fettucine. Great taste with the big chunks of pancetta.
We saved the best for last. Dessert. Fresh homemade ricotta cheese with honey and pistachios! Amazing! I paired it with a muscat wine and it was the perfect combination. Light, fresh but still sultry! Service was excellent, professional, and friendly. Would definitely come back here! We loved it.

Hi NorCal_Explorer

Thanks for review and pointing out the size of our restaurant. We can actually only accommodate around 42 people so we are pretty small, however the food speaks for itself. Thanks for acknowledging Reggie and his knowledge as it is something we take pride in here.
I'm sure we'll be seeing you next time you are in SF

“Wonderful and Romantic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2012

This is one of those restaurants that give me a rush: small, slightly off the beaten path, comfortable, great food selection, some creative dishes; some familiar standbys, all tastefully done, modestly priced good wines, friendly host, good service, fair pricing. What's not to like?!

This is one of the few places in SF located on a tree-lined (both sides) block of Hyde Street giving it a special hidden-find feeling. The host was hepful and accomodating for our plans to have friends join us late for desert and then off to the theatre..Everything was timed perfectly. They even furnished a delicious complimentary amuse. Loved the specialty ravioli; evening's fish selection was great and Grandpa's sausage spagetti was a winner....using a slightly thin flat linguine-like noodle that seemed very special to me. I did not have desert, but did enjoy tasting of everybodys.....wonderful! Good coffee too.

GO!.

Hi Fernando

Thanks for the review, glad you liked the restaurant. We make everything here in house and with minimum wage amongst the highest in the US it translates to the final price. I hope that the food speaks for itself and we see you back here again!

“Perfection...absolute perfection.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2012 via mobile

Phenomenal! Just got into town, surprised we got a reservation and it happened to be one of the best things that ever happened to us. Greeted at the door by the owner, Alex, so accommodating. Our food was ridiculously delicious. It will be hard to come back to San Francisco and not want to come here. One of the most perfectly memorable experiences we've ever had. COME HERE!
