“carnival atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2014

Little place, but really cute. Loved the Tilt a Whirl booth. Not a big fan of the doughnut burger, but had to try it. Blown away by the sweet potato tater tots. Lots of great theming. Not exactly healthy, but still worth the splurge.

“Food was delicious!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2014

I heard about this restaurant from the TV show, World's Weirdest Restaurant, and decided to check it out while we were in town. This place is only a 6 minute walk from the metro station. However, I would say this restaurant is not in the tourist side of town so be careful if you are walking here alone by yourself at night. We got greeted in the restaurant with storybook menus which were really cool! The names of the dishes in the menu are also really creative. We started with the mini corn dogs which were really yummy and bite size! They were served in a mini fry basket which was really neat! For entrees, we ordered the bbq ribs, fried chicken on a waffle, hamburger in a donut and the shrimp on rice which all turned out to be very yummy! It also came with sweet potato tots which were very delicious as well. The food was great value for the price! I would definitely recommend this restaurant!

“STRAW is a FUN carnival-themed, casual dining spot”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013 via mobile

STRAW is an intentionally casual hole-in-the-wall spot that serves tasty fun food such as a fried chicken on a waffle Monte Christo sandwich, and healthy salads too. The decidedly shabby-chic decor executes its carnival theme with, for example, a genuine Tilt-A-Whirl vintage two-seater, now recycled as a dining booth. Our waiter Kevin was tops in charm and efficiency. I'd be happy to have another go at this culinary carnival.

“Fun”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2013

We stumbled upon this place and it was great! Very small like ten table! The food was a play on circus carnival food. Mac and cheese a YES! Salads were crisp and not overdressed! Ribs were fall off the bone, grilled cheese was solid, could have been more melted but bread was awesome! Tots ok, fries better! Slushy sangria and fun desserts. Cotton candy! Service was great!

“Cute Place with Creative Menu!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2013

Cute place with carnival atmosphere, they even have a couple old tilt a whirls for seats.
We had a late breakfast. The menu has a very creative twist on the usual breakfast food. I had a brioche and egg sandwich with bechamel sauce and it was really good and filling. I saw someone eating a hamburger on a donut bun.
If you want a meal that has a different twist --eat here!!!
