“Not your everyday experience.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2012

Great food, funny, very camp owner that makes for an extreme san francisco experience that is not your every day. If he likes you and you're an open, non homophobic person you will most likely enjoy this immensely. Otherwise it can be seen as a character test that you may lose. Check his rules before entering and try to go on a Monday (before 12.30) or you will have to wait in line for sometimes hours.

“Felt the love at the Red Door!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2012

What a place - yes, it was a long wait, but what fun! The food was delicious and the presentation out of this world. I loved the owner - I would have taken him home with me if I could have! Yes, I will definitely go back again. The portions were VERY ample.

“Great Place for food and fun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2011

Quirky place to say the least, but loads of fun with terrific food. Don't let the stories scare you....the owner is just looking to fill his place with people who like to have fun. Take the chance and go --- you'll be so glad you did!

“Surprisingly good food and experience!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2011

Red Door is a tiny place with big character. The owner takes pride in what he does and makes you feel welcome.

Each dish is individually prepared and is not only great in taste but also in presentation (the owner understands what each patron wants and each dish is uniquely customized).

This place is not always open (check the hours), but it is highly recommended if you want a great and unique food experience.

“Excellent Food - Great Hospitality”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2011

This little restaurant, and I mean little as it only holds about 15 people at a time, was off the beaten path of the local established restaurants. The owner is your host and you feel like a 'family member' once you walk in. Food was delicious, selection of coffees to choose from. There may be a line awaiting outside. Beware - the owner does not like to see 'corporate owned' coffees while waiting...he will offer you his own!!! The atmosphere is halarious so go with an open mind. Will return on my next visit....it's a keeper!!
