“Definitely worth checking out!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2012

I visit the main library at least once a week, often just popping in and out: using the excellent online website, I can search the library system's stacks and request books, dvds, and cds with ease, as well as renew material that I checked out. I'm very grateful that we have this free resource. They also have interesting events, again free - film festivals, exhibits, conferences, theatrical staged readings, etc.

“Confusing, modern architecture...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2012

but light and airy and, wow, a real slice of San Francisco, especially on the weekends. The librarians are very helpful, the resources vast (lots of internet terminals), but it's the cross section of humanity that fascinates.

“So many vagrants, this library looks like a homeless shelter”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2012

Bathrooms are filled with stinky bums using the sinks as bathtubs and the place is filthy. The stench throughout the place makes it an embarrassment for my wonderful city.

“Study and read”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2012

I used to study and read here quite a bit in the 80's. Probably different now but it was a classic library then with a great periodical dept.

Great selection! They even have a large variety of foreign language books and dvds.
