“Step In, Look Up”

The rotunda is worth a quick stop. 2,600 piece stained glass dome. From the prior 1909 City of Paris store. Beautiful!

“The Ultimate For Browsing - And If You Have The Cash - Go For It!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2006

Most every time I go to Union Square I have to do a little browsing in Neiman Marcus. I'm one of those rare guys who actually likes to do this.
Right when you step into the rotunda, take a moment and look up at the fantastic stained glass dome overhead. Then it's on to the "power browsing."
I usually head for the bottom floor for the mens wear. Huge selection of ties from all the high end designers - but be prepared to spend some $$$.
Every now and then there's a sale and there are tables of "discounted" stuff, but you're still gonna pay a good chunk of change - hey, it's Neiman Marcus, what would you expect?
If you want a free thrill, try on one of the $1,000 jackets they have there, and don't be afraid of the sales people. As long as you're not abusing the merchanise, they're not going to tackle you to the ground for trying on an expensive piece of clothing.
Since I'm not into the ladies wear... I skip the middle floors head up to the top floor. There's an amazing layout of crystal, silver and other decorative items.

Neiman Marcus is San Francisico's finest department store. And destined to be 60,000 square feet larger, after its expansion is complete. It is an absolutely stunning store. Enter through it's beautiful main entrance and look to the rotunda above. The main floor carries cosmetics and accessories. Accessories include shops/counters for Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Kieselstein-Cord, Judith Lieber, Burberry, Tod's and others. The lower level is an excellent men's store. The second floor is the women's designer floor...incuding Chanel, Jil Sander, Prada, YSL, and the like. The third floor is bridge sportswear, and the top floor has candies, stunning Epicure food and beautiful items for the home. The store's expansion will add to the store's current 195,000 square feet (including office space on the store's top level). Neiman Marcus is a definite must-visit for anyone interested in upscale shopping.
