“Yum!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2011

Just had breakfast/brunch there this morning. The best sourdough bread I have ever tasted - the grilled cheese was excellent. They also make good coffee. The shop has lots of interesting items for sale and you can watch the bread being made through a large window from the street. The exhaust fans exit on to the main street and the smell is devine. Well worth a visit.

“Tasteless rip off”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2011

I love sourdough and clam chowder. Naturally, I got clam chowder bread bowl. The bread tasted like it came from the local supermarket bakery. the clam chowder tasted like it came from a campbells soup can... but without the clams. I think there were about 3 clams in my soup. Don't waste your money.

“Unfriendly staff, and bread too tough to bite into.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2011

It is some what interesting to see the working bakery and the bread art that is made here, but after about five minutes, you'll be done with this place. Don't bother with their food. The over priced sandwhiches tasted like they were made with cheep balongne and the bread was so tough, I was afraid I was going to damage my front teeth.

Don't even try to get an extra napkin. Apparently the cost paper goods is deducted from the staff's pay. At least that's how they acted.

“A Must-Do for SF”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2010

if you like clam chowder, you must go to boudin at the wharf. they serve chili and clam chowder in a sourdough bread cutout bowl. the bread is baked fresh daily and is absolutely delicious when it absorbs hot soup/chili.

be sure to stop here if you visit the fisherman's wharf area.

“very interesting but save the crouds and buy your bread at SFO airport”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2010

It was interesting but again the crowds are ferocious !!!!!!!!!!!!! Save your time and fighing the crowds by purchasing your bread at the San Fran airport where there is no tax and no line ups !!!!! We had no trouble bringing our bread back to Canada from customs
