“Good beer!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2014

Recommended to us by a friend as being the only place to get good beer, similar to English Real Ale. And indeed the beer was excellent! Food was usual stuff you would expect in this kind of place. Very busy with long wait for a table, but I guess that was our fault for not booking. Fab location with great views of the ocean, and server very friendly and helpful (and surprisingly knowledgeable about the different beers when she realised we were interested).

“Wonderful views, food and service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2014 via mobile

This restaurant is a bit off the beaten path and you likely would not find it if you didn't know it was there. Fortunately, a colleague from the area recommended it. What a wonderful evening! The views were lovely, even on a rather foggy night. Food and service both very good. Prices reasonable. I would live to go back sometime when the sky is clear as I am sure the sunset would be spectacular. While every table can see the water, request one by the window!

“sunny day”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2013

The Beach Chalet is one of San Francisco hidden gems unless you make the effort to leave the tourist infested swamps of pier 39 and mind numbing trips to Sausalito.
It sits on the great highway overlooking the sea with no memory with its back to the city of many colours.
Its food is average and it acohol selection is superb , but what sets it apart is it service , the waiters/tress are not pushy like louis on pier 39 or neptunes you are left to your leisure to make your selections and to enjoy the view.
I enjoyed my sweet potato fries with stout lamb on brie and sourdough , and my mojito was superb and then I was left in peace to enjoy a superb blanc du blanc (Gloria) and even my odd request that the last glass from the bottle should be given to a elegant young lady at the bar was met with politeness and delivered with style.

So you mindless tourists who mill around downtown take the no5 bus on its journey from canyons of capitalist greed to the sea which remebers nothing and enjoy a afternoon paddling before restoring yourself at the beach chalet.

“Best on a Weekday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013

We've been to the Beach Chalet quite a few times. The view of the ocean is stellar. The food and service are usually quite good.

I highly recommend this restaurant on a weekday...rarely a wait for a table, full menu, and very good service.

We visited the restaurant yesterday (Saturday) around 1:30p...it was very crowded and noisy...waited 30 minutes for a table...sat more than 10 minutes before a server came to our table...then found out that the menu was limited due to brunch service. The items that we wanted to order would not be available until 4pm when the restaurant would switch over to the full menu. Disappointing.

We made the best of our visit and ordered two appetizers, two beers. Enjoyed the view. Yes, we will go back but not on a Saturday!

“Mediocre Food and Service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2013

It was a rare sunny morning and we decided to have breakfast at the beach chalet. The omelette was bland and any special diet requests were met with "no we don't do that, the food is pre-made so we cant make changes, we don't have any margarine only butter" and so on. Generally a can't do attitude from the waitress who seemed unhappy to be serving anyone at 8 am.

If you want a great view and average food, go to Louis' instead.
