“Make sure you eat at La Belle Crepe on Union Street”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2012

My husband and I had seen all the main attractions in San Francisco so we decided to go on a walk through various suburbs to really experience San Francisco.

We walked down Union Street which has a great range of various boutique shops and doesn't have that touristy feel. We stopped to eat at a place called La Belle Crepe which we stopped at by chance.

We had a tuna crepe and also a nutella crepe. They were delicious! We even went back the next day to have them again again. It is a cosy, humble cafe with great crepes and friendly staff.

It is a great street in a lovely area.

“Ultimate Shopping & Dining in a Real Neighborhood”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2006

Awesome shopping in unique boutiques. Absolutely loved some of the homewear shops... Modica, Tate & Kennedy, Isabelle's Table, ATYS. Things I haven't seen elsewhere, and I DO shop a lot, so finding multiple stores with unusual items is quite a treasure. Also stumbled upon an Innuit Art place (Images of the North), fantastic and very memorable chocolate (Goldleaf Chocolate Company) and an interesting kids' clothing place where the kids learn to make their own clothes (Wee Scotty, where I vowed to bring my niece to sometime in the future). I visit San Francisco regularly and had been downtown for Christmas (which was a complete zoo) so I was thrilled to find great shopping with sufficient breathing room! San Francisco is great anytime, albeit a bit rainy in January/February. If visiting San Francisco and you have a car, the only problem is parking. On Union Street, I find the best bet is un-metered parking in nearby side streets, which gives you 2 free hours of parking... but take what you can get!

“Best Neighborhood in San Francisco!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2006

WE were looking for a place to celebrate our anniversary and decided to stay in Union Street (not Union Square, as was a bit confusing). Place was incredible, just the quaint, no-big-chains, 'real people' kind of neighborhood we wanted. We were fortunate enough to stumble upon the ideal location... we stayed in the best block of Union Street... a couple of nights at a great small Inn on Union Street (Union Street Inn), and we found the best chocolate shop across the shop (Goldleaf Chocolatier, makes their own chocolates right there and best fudge and truffles we've ever had, all very fresh!). We had a fantastic brunch at Rose's Cafe, just down the corner (there was also a nice homeware store right there as well, can't remember the name). Further up the street there are mostly good clothing shops (pricy but unique and great quality) and plenty of other restaurants, even another chocolate shop, but an overpriced one selling other companies stuff and not very fresh from what we tasted. A great shop called Ambiance had clothing and accessories and lots more, a place I wish I had nearby at home (along with the yummy fudge!) The Union STreet Inn was a great small place and had the most wonderful garden, and even nice & quite, what a surprise (perfect room too). Lots of friendly people, in the big city, but in a true neighborhood. The best of San Francisco!
