“The only decent deal you'll find in SanFran”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We struggled to find somewhere in San Francisco that offered parking, in what's considered a 'safe' area, and at a decent rate ... Fortunately after deciding to try somewhere for just one night and see how it was, rather than booking for all three, the Lombard Motor Inn came up in search results. It had a room available for two nights but not all three, but a different type of room available for the third night which is why it hadn't shown up as available when we searched for 3 nights - so we called up to check and they could accommodate us which was great.

We were very skeptical of what it would be like when we arrived around 8pm, and were worried there would be no parking spaces left. But there was and actually they had a decent number of spaces. The check-in desk guy even let us park in a space that's normally coned off but because we had a compact car it was fine. He was really friendly and welcoming, and very helpful answering all our questions. Our room was also great. Large bed, tv, safe in the wardrobe, sink outside the bathroom, and table with two chairs. We booked for the second two nights immediately.

There was no breakfast but we were out everyday anyway. There was free wifi. Easy walking distance down to the waterfront, Ghiradelli square, and marina area. There's a launderette nearby called Greenwich Clean Time which was ideal because we were traveling for 2 weeks and had almost run out of clean clothes! Taxi from Union Square area one night cost us $12 inc tip.

We only had one hiccup after the second night stay, we came back in the middle of the day and our key cards didn't work. We knew the carpets were being cleaned that day so had thought it was to do with that but when we go to the desk they said we were meant to have checked out. There was obviously a mixup when we'd booked the extra two nights stay but fortunately they could still accommodate us and hadn't moved anything out of the room.

Road noise wasn't too bad, but it wasn't completely cut out when you shut the balcony door. We were fine sleeping through it though and not a road that's too busy at night.

Overall good accommodation and decent value for money. Definitely recommend.

Room Tip: Rooms on the south side are probably quieter, ours faced onto Lombard Street so there was some road...

Lombard Motor Inn was just right for us. My wife and I visiting San Francisco for the first time wanted something near the main attractions and clean but budget friendly. We used TripAdvisor to read about 50 SF motels before deciding to try the Lombard. We picked it because of the location, price, and parking. The location isn't perfect but it's not bad if you are ok with walking some like we do. Parking in SF is nearly impossible so having parking at the hotel and included in the price of the room is a huge perk! The room was very clean and the bed was incredibly comfortable! The price we paid was very good based on the competition. Only a couple negatives with this property. They need to add a micro-fridge to keep so drinks and leftovers cool. They don't offer breakfast, not even donuts, but they are plenty of places to eat nearby and the room is about $50/day less than hotels with breakfast. And those other hotels charge an extra $20-40/day for parking. The front office staff was very helpful with recommendations for places to visit and eat and directions around town. The cleaning staff did a great job and were very courteous as well. Overall, we were very pleased and would definitely stay at Lombard Motor Inn again.

Lombard Motor Inn is great! What a terrific choice for reasonable lodging in San Francisco. The hotel is just few blocks from the piers and Fisherman's Wharf. It's a safe and pretty walk to the heart of the wharf. We walked everywhere we wanted to go. Free parking for your car, a great and comfortable room, close cafés for sandwiches or snacks, and a beautiful view from the 3 rd floor of the Golden Gate Bridge. I paid under $200 a night on the weekend which was a steal for a hotel so close to it all. Edward at the front desk was so friendly, professional, and helpful. I highly recommend this hotel if you want a great place to stay!

Room Tip: Great view of the Golden Gate from the third floor.

We stayed here 3 nights in June. After a long flight we wanted something quick to eat before bed. The reception staff were fantastic. They sorted us out with menus to order in and gave us directions to nearby restaurants. There knowledge of the area was excellent even down to which bus to jump on and from where if places were too far to walk. Perfect location for fishermans wharf it's only a10 min walk. Room was spotless and had plenty of room. We were on the first floor we heard nothing except on the last night when a family was in the room above and the kids were jumping on and off the beds like it was a bouncy castle - quick call to reception however and this was soon sorted. Places to go eat - chestnut dinner on chestnut street for breakfast value for money and the omelettes are amazing. Only couple mins walk.
Jakes Stakes - on buchanan street - neighbourhood bar with plenty of sports channels and most importantly the best Philly cheese steak I have ever tasted. The garlic fries weren't bad either and very reasonably priced.
There is also a Korean place next door to the hotel the owners a lovely lady and the food was amazing clean/light/filling give it ago we were the only people eating in which was a shame cos the food was great.
Lombard motor in is the perfect no frills place to stay. The beds were very comfy and the place was spotless doesn't look much from the outside but who cares give it ago

I have been going back to this hotel for over 10 years & it never disappoints. It's conveniently located at an affordable rate. Parking is a plus! The front desk staff were helpful with suggestions for daily activities. It is nice to know that you can count on a hotel in a big city that won't let you down. I look forward to traveling back!

We decided to rendesvous with friends for two days in SF and chose this motel for its location and parking. We were in room 304, front, with a balcony. Alas, it was foggy so we didn't have much of a view but we loved hearing the fog horns! The room was near the elevator and ice machine but we did not hear any noise from them. We did hear street noise as Lombard is very busy, but after all, we wanted to be in the city.

We had two big beds, a table with two chairs, flat screen TV, luggage rack, coffee maker, hair dryer, kleenex. The sink was separate from the toilet & tub/shower. There was a rubber no slip mat but no grab bars in the shower. There was no desk but that was not an issue for us.

There is a small place for coffee and pastries next door.

We thought the price was fine for June in San Francisco ($155 per night).

We had a good experience staying at this hotel. The hotel is older, but the room was very clean and spacious, The front desk was very helpful especially when we were checking in at midnight on a Saturday night. Garaged parking which was a definite bonus. It had everything you could possibly need in the room. It's also at a great location ... public transit to the Golden Gate Bridge is just down a couple of blocks. Fisherman's Pier was about a 15 minute walk from the hotel. Whenever back in San Francisco, we will stay there again.
