“Great value for San Francisco”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2012

Loved this hotel! First off, all the other reviews are correct- location is fantastic (one block from a bus stop and restaurants close by), rooms were clean and a very good size, and the rates were great. What really made it was the free parking!

The man at the front desk when we checked in was very helpful and gave us some great tips and information on getting around the city. The rooms were a great size for 3 adults. Check out was at noon, but they let us keep our car int heir lot for a couple more hours without any problems.

The only con, which can be avoided, is that it can get loud in the evenings. Our room was near the corner of Lombard and Fillmore and we were there on a Saturday night, so it was noisy. The next night was nice and quiet though. I think this could probably be remedied by asking for a room that faced the back of the place (I can't remember the name of the street). Also, a room on the top floor may be quieter (we were on the first floor).

I would definitely stay here again.

I will definitely be staying here on my next trip to the city.

This hotel is in a great spot for using SF's buses to go downtown, and several other areas without driving. The rooms are large and nicely furnished, with excellent mattresses, and very clean, and rates are very good for San Francisco. Staff is also very helpful - they even found a charger for my phone when I forgot mine at home! I have also stayed at two of their other properties and they were just as good.

My husband and I stayed here at the end of August as part of a honeymoon trip to the USA. The room was spotlessly clean and a very good size. The first site that greeted us when we entered the room was a lovely bottle of wine and the largest white roses I have ever seen with a note congratulating us on our marriage. The bed was large and comfortable. Our room was at the front of the hotel, we didn't find the traffic noise loud enough to affect sleep and the view of the Golden Gate Bridge emerging from some early morning fog on our first day would of been worth it anyway! The location is great, it's an easy walk to Fishermans Wharf. The free and ample parking is a bonus. We would stay again and would definitely recommend it to our friends and family.

We were so pleased with our stay here. We mainly chose it as it had underground parking but it turns out this hotel is in a fantastic location in San Fran.

There are some great bars and restaurants very close by and just one or two blocks over is Union street which has excellent shopping and dining!

It doesn't feel like a particually touristy area either, it's an area popular with young professionals.

The site seeing tour bus stops right outside this hotel too which is very handy after a long day site seeing, you can just hop off right at your hotel!!

Room was spacious and we couldn't have wanted for any more.

It was a tad noisey on the Saturday night (when the bars kicked out) but this was easily fixed by ear plugs, wasn't an issue at all.
At least the bars are on your door step so it's not far to stagger home! :o)

For a first time visit to San Francisco, I had some sticker shock finding a hotel. The Chelsea Motor Inn was very afford-ably priced, and located in a great location. The room was clean and spacious and we were very happy with almost everything. Our only disappointment was a hat that went missing. Seemed strange, but maybe the maid thought something like a hat would go unnoticed.

My wife and sons stayed at the Chelsea recently and had a wonderful time. The rooms were very large and comfortable and our king size bed was very nice to sleep in. The rooms were nice and clean, and the bathrooms were also clean with excellent showers. The hotel is located in the marina district and were in close proximity to some wonderful resaurants and shops. The staff were very helpful offering directions and companies to call for tours and so forth. The area is also very close to Fisherman's wharf. The only thing i would have liked is to be able to get a newspaper in the lobby or have one at our door in the morning. other than that , the parking was great there and very comfortable.

Room Tip: Order a referigerator for only an additional 5 dollars a day.

Rooms and bathrooms are oversized compared to most modern rooms. The hotel is a little dated but it was spotless and the staff efficient and friendly. You can walk to Fishermans Wharf from here or ride public transit. We didnt have a car, but if we did we would have been overjoyed at our good fortune here! The dining, shopping and clubbing options within a block or two in ALL directions was impressive to say the least. We hung out at "The Hosreshoe" on Chestnut and then strolled down to "A16" for incredible wood fired pizza and a wine list to die for!
