“Handy Location, Well Maintained, Well Priced”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2013

Our family of five accommodated in two rooms enjoyed our stay at the Coventry.staff were both friendly ad helpful. It's corner location made it easy to find and access the free parking which is a bonus. Rooms were basic though very clean and comfortable . Surrounding neighbourhood provided a variety of eateries within easy walking distance. Stay was well priced, booked online via Expedia. No negatives to report

We stayed two nights. On arrival you turn into garage, check-in is in an office on that floor. Your key card gives access to elevator which takes you to the rooms. Our top floor room was clean, comfortable and reasonably spacious. Wifi and TV reception were good. Coffee maker in room. Furnishings a little dated, but adequate. There is no restaurant for dinner or indeed breakfast, but plenty of choice within a couple of blocks. Fisherman's wharf is a 30 minute walk, or from nearby Chestnut Street you can get a trolley bus (number 36?).

Things to note, hotel is on southbound side of dual carriageway so if you are travelling north you need to make a turn. Plus side is that heading north in a morning traffic is reasonably light as most cars are coming into the city. As hotel is on main road with traffic 24/7 there is some noise, but nothing terrible.

All in all hotel represents good value, particularly when you factor in parking costs in SF.

The Coventry Motor Lodge is a basic, no frills setup at a very good location in the heart of San Francisco. It is close to transportation and the town's major atractions. Access to parking is definitely a plus. The WiFi was temperamental when we stayed there, but for $110/night and no extra cost for this service, I am definitely not going to complain.

Room Tip: Rooms facing Lombard Street are quiet enough for a good night's sleep.

Will definitely stay here again! Excellent price (!!!) for a safe location close to all kinds of yummy restaurants, easy access to bus stops, (friendly staff can help you get where you wanna go) walking distance to fishermans wharf, ghiradelli square, and palace of fine arts. Noisy road all night but I can't complain-it's SF, a big city- next time I will ask for a higher floor or room not on top of Lombard.

Free parking! - never moved the car once after check in. Plus-a public parking garage down a block for our guests who joined us in the city for dinner one night.

We had our 5 yr old with us who loved the cute public kids park just two blocks away.

No mini-fridge for leftovers.

Room Tip: If you don't sleep easily-choose a room higher up and/or in the back of the hotel (NOT on Lombar...

Making Coventry Motor Inn part of the trip was a great idea. Clean, quiet rooms with a convenient location, memory foam beds and free parking! The king size bed rooms are of a decent size and very clean. They have all of the regular amenities along with a small safe in the room. Bathrooms are clean and sizeable as well. The beds are memory foam and provide a great night's sleep. The location of the inn is great! Just a few blocks from local restaurants and bars along with being located in an area where it's easy to flag down a cab. Oh yeah, free parking too!!!

This hotel is located quite far away from the main tourist areas in San Francisco, but the price per room definitely makes up for that.

Things I liked:
- Huge room
- Comfortable mattress on the bed (Tempur)
- Great cleaners, room was always spotless
- Friendly staff
- Free, safe car parking
- Big TV with lots of channels

Things I didn't like:
- Quite far from most of the tourist spots
- You have to rely on San Francisco's pretty awful bus service to get anywhere if you don't have a car (get the Muni Pass for $28/week when you arrive in SF!)
- The Wi-Fi was slow and constantly dropped connection (on my laptop, phone and tablet)
- The bedding was not appropriate for cold March nights. There was a thick blanket on top of the bed but I would have preferred a nice thick duvet.

To get in to the city, you can take bus 22, 30 or 30X. The 30X is by far the fastest but it only runs at peak times. You can get on it at the corner of Buchanan and Chestnut, but if you ride before 9am (the last bus is at 9:20am) be prepared to stand the whole way.

Nearby, I highly recommend going to All Star Donuts at the corner of Steiner and Chestnut streets. The donuts are only $1 and are huge and make a great quick breakfast!

our family enjoyed our stay at coventry motor inn. it's close to everything, and not too close. it's quiet and safe area with a many places to eat around it. check in-check out went smooth. Convenient to have ice machine in a hall. Parking was never a problem(there was no fee for it - which a BIG plus for SF). I recommend it to anyone!
