“Perfection for a Budget Motel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2012

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights during the memorial weekend. I researched like crazy trying to find the best for the budget and this one was it by far. The reviews were what made it for us. I booked directly on their website and was torn between this one and Lombard, the lombard was closer to the wharf but the Coventry had the better reviews and it seemed more updated. I booked about a month before and requested 3rd floor since alot of reviewers were saying that the first floor was just too loud. We arrived earlier than expected but since I made an early check in request our room was ready for us. The room is simple but completely updated and impecably clean. The decor is cute and it had everything we needed. Huge clean bathroom, huge king size temperpedic bed (which was a dream and because of this bed we are purchasing one ourselves!) just wish they had pillows to match theirs were too flat, THE VIEW we had a view of the bridge, since we were there for the 75th Golden Gate Bridge anniversary we had the most magnificent view of the fireworks over the bridge, it was perfect. There wasnt always parking but we would just double park and leave the key (no issues), We would walk to the best breakfast down the street to Homeplate (oooh you must try them best coffee and service but there is also an IHOP accross if you want to play it safe). We mostly left our car their and walked to the wharf most times but we did park our car at the wharf all day for 15 bucks not too bad? I know people said that parking was 30plus dollars?? Not sure where they were parking?? I would definately stay here again or any of their other sister hotels!

Room Tip: Book thru them and request 3rd floor so you can get a view of the bridge and view of lombard. Take a...

The hotel is located in a good location for a visit to san francisco,CA as a tourist.
It's appears safe around the area and has free parking with limited parking on lobby level.Elevetor is centrally located on lobby/parking level with luggage carriers and room key access for the elevators at the lobby location making it safer access to the hotel. There is some sight seeing brochures and maps in the lobby with a small seating area.
The room was very nice and clean and well appointed with flat screen tv(approx. 42"),with round table with chairs and bay window view and climate(ac unit) underneath this area of the window. The climate control was on the wall near the bathroom. The window did open at this level making it precarious for children to be around with the window open though.A modern alarm/radio clock was on night stand besides bed.Plenty of pillows for the bed of which was king size and firm mattress made it very comfortable sleeping on.
The bathroom was roomy and had a heat lamp as opposed to exhaust fan and nice showerhead and plenty of soap dishes in tub with supplied shower cap and soap, shampoo, conditioner.A coffee maker with ice bucket and hot and cold cups provided along with coffee/tea I think also.A ice machine and drink machine only is on this level at elevator.
Furnishing were clean and modern and overall very nice!
I don't remember seeing a hotel directory though in the room of amenities, etc.A phone was availabe but didn't need one like most unless need to call the front desk which never had a reason to since the room was well appointed with everything.
I definitely will consider staying again at this property of their other properties. It's pricey for the area($98/nt weekday and $140/nt. weekend but hey this is san francisco,CA).

Room Tip: Request north side for a possible view of the golden gate bridge.

Can't beat the price. Our room was large and beds comfortable. Very clean. Parking is free and the front desk was very helpful to us accomodating our full size van which did not fit in the underground lot. If you want simple, clean, safe area, centrally located and a reasonable price, this is the place.

What you are reading here on TripAdvisor about Coventry is very true. Our room was spotless, the bed was comfortable, the decor of the room is tasteful, and the hotel is convenient to the Marina District. All of this at one-third of the cost that other hotels of comparable quality were charging for the same weekend. What a find!

The only negative of our stay was that the elevator was broken and we had to use the street access and stairway to get to our room, as did everyone else. Since our room was stationed right by the stairwell door, we were subjected to a very late night and early morning of hearing the door open and slam shut as patrons entered and exited.

All in all, though, it was a great find, and we would stay here again.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a quiet room at the time of booking rather than waiting until you arrive.
